STRYXIS MOTIVATION TABLE: ROLL A D10
1 |
The Stryxis is seeking to obtain prestige within its own society by enslaving the bearer of a warrant of trade. It seeks to capture the Rogue Trader and bring him back to the caravan of its home Pact in chains.
2 |
The Stryxis desires a human vessel, and it has set its heart upon the Explorator's ship. It cares nothing for the crew, and is happy to either let them go in peace or throw them all out of the airlock.
3 |
The Stryxis wants to capture the entire crew of the Explorator's ship. It has identified that certain members of the crew contain desirable genetic markers that would be useful in the production of vat-slaves. It seeks the acclaim it would gain within its own culture in capturing such useful genetic information.
4 |
The Stryxis has formed an obsession with an utterly trivial and easily replaceable component of the Explorator's vessel. This can be the glass eye of a figurehead, the spoke of the ship's wheel, or a hexagonal bolt from the warp drive casing. The Stryxis desires this object above all things in the galaxy. Its obsession with this item leads it to myopically assume that all others feel the same way about it, so it schemes day and night to obtain the item by stealth
5 |
The Stryxis genuinely likes the Explorators, and seeks to impress them with its trading acumen in the same way that it would with members of its own race. It haggles with them at any opportunity, over the most trivial things, simply to show off how determined and crafty it is.
6 |
The Stryxis is seeking to make inroads, on behalf of its Pact into the "human market." It wants to open up trade in Xeno artifacts within the Calixis Sector, and sees the explorators as a convenient way to achieve this. It will use the players' Dynasty's good name and reputation to engage in the Cold Trade, without the knowledge of the other players.
7 |
The Stryxis is on the lookout for human slaves. Lots of them. Tens of thousands at least: the Stryxis is using the players to scout out remote human civilisations and colonies for exploitation at a later date.
8 |
The Stryxis is on the lookout for a particular Eldar who is rumoured to have shown interest in the players' Dynasty in centuries past. The Stryxis regards this particular Eldar as the enemy of its entire race, and will do literally anything to ensure its demise. For now, it watches and waits in the crew of the player's ship, hoping its adversary will return.
9 |
The Stryxis is in hiding from its own people. It is a marked criminal within its own society, having committed a terrible crime by the peculiar standards of the Stryxis. It seeks to avoid its own people at all costs.
10 |
The Stryxis seeks to destroy a particular high ranking individual or facility dear to the Imperium: an Inquisitor perhaps, or Port Wander. The Stryxis waits within the players' crew for a chance to fulfill its sinister objective.
Ok, I know I'm missing rank tables 6-8 there, but I can't seem to get them pasted in. I'll try again later. Should be enough to be getting on with for the time being, anyway!
This is actually great. A Stryxian character would be awesome in the hands of a skilled roleplayer. I can't see anything really wrong with the advancement tables, nothing too unbalanced overall. I like that the Stryxis becomes a Fellowship-based xeno, while most of the other are made fer fightin' an' winnin' in one way or another.
The last tables would be good, though, and if it was compiled into a pdf or similar, I'd at least be very happy.

It's most odd… Sometimes the tables paste in fine, sometimes they get jumbled up! It could be because I wrote this using pages for iPad, not MSWord… I'll keep trying!
