Card Expansions?

By jimmeray, in Talisman

Has anyone ever thought about card expansions for spaces, similar to the warlock quest space? For instance- instead of rolling for the Tavern you must draw a card from the Tavern deck. Seems to me like the possibilities would be endless.

Also, we are thinking about incorporating a trading ability with other characters you land on, before you either attack them or do the space. Example- The Warrior land on a space with the Wizard and asks if the Wizard would like to trade his Magic Orb for a Magical sword. The Wizard agrees and the turn is over. However, a trade offer elliminates the ability to encounter the space, so a rejected trade offer gives you a choice of ending your turn or attacking the character.

What do you think?

There is an excellent home made expansion for 2nd edtion called Black's Tavern over on Talsimanisland. It has a Patron, Mystic Brew and Event deck which always provdied some laughs. The only gripe I had with it was that when you also used the City set it made both the City and Tavern spaces on the main board effectively "nothing spaces" as they only served as doorways into the expansion boards.

May see what I can do with the Tavern as it was certainly my favourite home made set.

A deck of cards would be excellent as well. I have looked at Mystic Brews and I just have not printed it yet.

I am leaning towards more choice based stuff at the corner spaces since they are 'civilized'. OFcourse too much choice and most players will have one or two favorites and that could unbalance the game.
