Interesting that they include a card that helps vehicles or droids, but does not provide any (other) vehicles and droids in the objective group… I suppose a lack of synergy w/in the obj is offset by the synergy with the capturing theme of the others. Well played FFG / Nate French. Well played.

Yeah, that card is pretty much just edge fodder, unless you also run Cruel Interrogations, it which case it becomes pretty great.

I really like "Bring me Solo" as well. That's going to be a strong card. I wonder if S&V will get more cards that let them look at the opponent's hand? I can't wait for this set to come out now!

Also look forward to the Droids: IG-88 and 4-Lom. Both will be in the Edge of Darkness set I am sure. Those and more more capture cards will make to where you won't need to run Cruel Interrogtions with this pod.

Great thinking! I have my doubts about them being in Edge of Darkness, but we'll see them eventually for sure, and they'll benefit from the Jawa Trading Crawler.

Overall, I'm not too impressed with this set. Is it useful? Sure, but it doesn't excite me the way I was hoping S&V sets would excite me. I bet I'll change my mind when S&V gets fleshed out with Edge of Darkness.

What I like about this pod is it non hoth. I see Hoth themed pods as bit of dead end, as you will get no further support for them after this cycle (like eagles in LoTR LCG)

I feel that the best way to incorporate Hoth into one's deck is as a subtheme. Like if you're playing the LS, choose the Hoth sets that fit your deck's overarching theme, but you shouldn't put more in just to increase the odds of your having more Hoth objectives than your opponent. After all, the DS punishes you for being too Hothy, with cards like the Wampa and The Desolation of Hoth. Similarly, the DS deck should only use the Hoth sets that assist his deck's overall makeup, regardless of whether he finds himself in a game with more or fewer Hoth objectives in play.

Now I think I'm gonna stop bolding and italicizing the word Hoth. :P

I don't know that you can definitively say that. I could easily see them revisiting the themes later, even in expansions/arcs that aren't Hoth. We already have Dagobah and Endor sets after all. Another example would be that "The Edge of Darkness" isnt really arc specific at all, and could easily contain Hoth sets, setting the precedent for future deluxe expansions at least.

Its not like the Tatoonie set isnt in a Hoth force pack after all.

From a design perspective, I am sure you're right. I think I see where Redblock is coming from, though. While Tatooine is a ubiquitous world throughout the saga, Hoth is only relevant for a brief period (unless you count the Old Republic era), so on the surface it would seem that the thematic space for Hoth objectives is limited.

I cant necessarily argue with that, but I could already see where just because an arc has a "theme" doesnt necessarily mean the devs couldnt use an opportunity here or there to ensure that some "old" stuff stays or becomes relevant again. Like I said, I wouldnt really say some of the Jedi Objectives that have been spoiled for the Hoth arc are really in that story line at all. Message From Beyond is loosely, since Obi did show up and say two sentences to Luke on Hoth, but the rest of that objective would have really made more sense in a Dagobah arc in my opinion. "Knowledge and Defense" is not Hoth related at all, yet will be in a force pack for it. I'm not complaining, just saying when you do a "Endor" or whatever arc, that doesnt necessarily tie you to ONLY doing Endor (in my example) objectives, just that most of them will likely be related to that. I trust the Devs to do the right thing and ensure all the objectives stay relevent to some degree, and that their judgement thus far has been very good.

Obviously this is a different game, but with agot ffg is re-releasing the first lcg era chapter cycle. In this cycle among a number of themes explored there we're also bannerman. The next new cycle will be re-exploring elements from this cycle as well as others.

So what I am trying to illustrate is that ffg has shown, as most companies do with any game that is expandable, that they are willing to return to old ideas, sometimes straight up expanding it and at other times revisiting but with a twist.

I think that, as others have said, although you can presumably create an all hoth deck eventually, it is very likely that it will be much more of a sub-theme for most decks, rather than a primary theme.

Not really relevant this thread, other than the name, but I want to point out that Search For Skywalker was updated to "shipping now" yesterday. Not too much longer now before we can expand the Hoth theme and try more tricks for Smugglers & Spies and Scum & Villainy.

But still no official release date?

There wasn't one for Desolation either. Best bet is to keep an eye on the boards for 'I've got mine!' posts.

Actually, under the upcoming tab where it was updated to "Now Shipping" it has an expected date of 4/25. So it looks like it will be in hand next week!

So, anyone get their hands on it, yet? I'm dying to see the cards in this set

My local shop says he will have them next Wednesday if not sooner.
