Seriously though, I find it absolutely hilarious that the only way to make the meta care about selective momentum disruption is to make sure an easy as pie infinite combo relies on it.

the problem with LOTM is typically there is no way to punish it. Yes you can shut it down for a turn or 2, but its still free and your answer still costs something. If they had another foundations that was 2/6 with a mid block, 4 symbols, and E: your opponent discards a mometnum AND another ability that drew cards from momentum I would say thats an accurate "kill the momentum" counter. But me blowing up my foundations to prevent your free E one time dosent seem to cut it to me.

I really do feel like we need something like absurd again and it hurts to say that. We shoudl learn from our mistakes there and balance it, but we do need something like it that acutally PUNISHES someone. That being said at no point does any of that make LOTM less free.

I've been laughing ever since I put Ruler of Shadows and Ikari warrior into my sideboard.

Seriously, Lord of the Makai is a huge unbalancing factor to the game. Given the choice between Olcadon's, Makai, and BRT going out the window I'd choose LoTM in a heart beat just because it closes so many design windows (suddenly having momentum as a cost/requirement is irrelevant!) while simultaneously shattering the entire concept of attacking for momentum.

I find the best way to take care of infinite combos is to ignore them and smash moar face. Especially with janky combos like Juli and two orange cards.
