Looking for a little help with Sakura Water

By NoobFighterFTW, in UFS Deck Building

I'm basing the deck purely off her "F". But I'm still have a hard time playing the deck consistantly. with a total of 12 3DIFF foundations, and a lot of 4CONTROL cards in the deck, it's getting to be tiresome playing one or two cards a turn while my opponent throws out a hand full of whatever.

Sakura-Starter

Foundations

4x The Gorgeous Team
4x Chinese Boxing
4x Program Malfunction
4x Shooting Capeora
4x The Angel of Evening
4x The Bigger They Are
2x Chester's Backing
2x British Subject
4x Dormant fo rMillions of Years
4x Battle Prowess
4x Soul of Ling Sheng Su

Assets

3x SoC
3x Mentoring

Actions

2x Rejection
3x Tag Along

Attacks

4x OD Cluster Bomb
1x Lunar Slash
2x Wingless Aeroplane
4x Stardust Drop

The Attack lineup is weak I know, But I don't a any Spikes, and I only have the one Lunar Slash. Wingless Aeroplane is great with her ability because it's a 6/2/5/3 throw that pumps itself. and if I hit ODCB and get the "E" I can use her to pull Lunar out if it's in the discard. Let me know what I can do to fix this please. And don't say add SPIKE, I'm not selling my soul for any of them. Lunar Slashes on the other hand,I am trying to get, so if you have some, let me know.

im assuming you only have 2 chesters and british subjects?

if you could get the other chesters i could see dropping the chinese boxings altogether, what with chesters, program malfunction, olcadans, and seals...

that gets rid of a 3 diff, a 4 check, and speeds up your deck or makes room for some more lunar slashes...which should run fairly quickly anyway...killing essentially 3 birds with 1 stone...

and maybe try to fit at least 1 more rejection in there...if nothing else just throw it in

thats my 2 cents, hope it helped a little

unfortunately my friend that is the problem with water

I would sujest

-1 gorgeous team -1 chinese boxing -2 british subject -4 stardust drop

+4 Aquakinesis + 4 Sardine's beach special(I have a couple I can trade)

you also need clean freak's or owlface will eat you

I would keep Chinese Boxing rather than Program Malfunction. It synergizes better with Shooting Capoera, since once Program readies, your opponent can ready their foundations again. Boxing has lower stats, but it's stronger lockdown when paired with Shooting Capoera.

thanks guys, I'm looking for 3 more lunar slashes at the moment, as well as at least one more chester's. I'd like to add clean Freak, but sadly I only have one at the moment. I'll probably be twiking the deck like this once I get everything I need:

65 cards in deck

3x Chester's Backing (NEED ONE MORE, LOOKING FOR TRADES)

3x Gorgeous Team

3x Chinese Boxing

3x Program Malfunction

4x Battle Prowess

3x Angel of Evening

4x Shooting Capeora

3x The Bigger They Are

3x Clean Freak (NEED TWO MORE, LOOKING FOR TRADES)

4x Soul of Ling Sheng Su

3x Dormant of Millions of Years

3x Mentoring

3x SoC

4x Regection (NEED TWO MORE, LOOKING FOR TRADES)

3x Tag Along

4x Lunar Slash (NEED THREE MORE, LOOKING FOR TRADES)

4x Sardine Beach Special (NEED FOUR MORE, LOOKING FOR TRADES)

4x Wing Aeroplane (NEED TWO MORE, LOOKING FOR TRADES)

4x OD Clusterbomb

So with a bit of twiking, let me know what you all think, because I don't want to trade for a bunch of stuff I'll never use. Like I did when I bought two Claymore off Unified Shoe(My fault, not his)

Water is pretty strong, especially for the ladies. All those awesome control pieces, and so few slots in the deck... Water Sakura is so versatile that she can be constructed in several ways.

Control/Tank: This might sound counterintuitive, but if you trimmed down the number of attacks in your deck, your checks would be better- hopefully increasing your chances of consistently playing those 3+ difficulty foundations. Sakura has the luxury of being able to cherry pick any card in her discard pile, which is pretty amazing (even without the all-mighty Feline Spike). Once you check an attack, or play one from your hand, you've got a threat every turn. This can be combined with Tenacious for a kill turn setup. With board control, you can keep your opponent's control pieces pinned down, and stop them from gaining life. It's not fast, or pretty, but it's effective.

Aggro: Sakura is, for all intents and purposes, a 7 HS/27 Vitality character. Combine this with Sogetsu and Seong Mi-Na's card drawing support, and you're going to have enough attacks to put the hurt on your opponent. Water has Kung-Fu Training to deal with Rejection, and Strife's Patronage for hand peek, so you know exactly what you're up against. If you're able to obtain more copies of Lunar Slash, the Omnidirectional Cluster Bomb/Natural Leader shenanagins should generate enough momentum.

Your deck is currently running 11 attacks- none of which are to be taken lightly. If you were to go the first route, and make the deck more control, I'd suggest trimming either the 4x Sardine's Beach Special or 4x Lunar Slash. IMO, that's just too many low checks to run in a deck with such high difficulty foundations. Rather than Aquakinesis, I would suggest making room for Familial Loyalty. Granted, its abilities are contingent upon an attack being played, but with Sakura's form, you can pretty much guarantee that will happen. It's a dual purpose card with solid stats, and it wreaks havoc on 5 HS characters.

The irritating thing about Water right now is that Olcadan's Mentoring isn't terribly effective against it. Granted, it sucks to lose a Chester's Backing, but your opponent is still forced to make a tough decision: do they give you a Battle Prowess, or Gorgeous Team (for example)? I know this might sound like a cop-out, but my advice is to not bother defending against the Owl (i.e. Clean Freak), and save those slots for something else, like Kung-Fu Training, which has a dual purpose. I expect to receive some grief over this one, but IMO, Water doesn't need an answer to Olcadan's Mentoring in order to win.

Thanks for the help. I'll take a lot of that into consideration. As for clean freak, I'm probably going to keep it in the deck for a few pesky cards, and mentoring if needed. I'd like to cut down on attacks, but I've learn that without a lot of draw power, attacks just become CC in my decks. I know with her form, that's not so bad, but with no setup like ODCB for lunar slash, it makes it a little difficuct. Natural leader would be nice, but with only have the one card in the deck that needs momenteum, I found it to be fairly useless, but who knows, I might still throw two in for more testing. This is the deck I will probably be taking to Gencon and Origins, as long as I don't find a much better deck first taht doesn't involve needed a ton of supers and boxtoppers. I'll still be playtesting this deck with my friends.................well friend, since there are only two of us in the area that play, **** LITTLE PUNKS AND THEIR POKE'MON, PLAY A REAL GAME!!!! Anyway, I've said enough. Thanks again for all the help guys, and any more advice is still very much appreciated.

I run 84 cards in my Water Sakura and it rarely ever loses.

With the mass amount of 3DFs, that's something Water deals with easily.

You don't need that many attacks. I only run 3x Feline (you can use Sardine) and 2x High Plasma Beam and I kill very easily. It also opens up more room for more foundations.

I wouldn't run Angel of the Evening. Water should be defending quite the barrage of attacks with Rejection + Shooting Capoera + Hybrid Style.

And you can run Aquakinesis as an extra 1/5. It's really good for this type of deck.
