Austin, Texas: Star Wars: The Card Game LCG Regionals at Mothership Books and Games
Thanks for the post! I noticed the start time on the website for the SW:LCG is at 5 this Saturday. From my tournament experience for CCG's, starting at 11am almost isn't enough time for the day. How long can we expect the entire tournament to take place?
Thank you,
5pm is a horrible start time for a regional.
Plesae make sure you reply, because some people will be traveling to the regional and if the time is different we would like to know. Thank you.
I assume they know what they are doing, starting at 5pm like that. do tournaments have to be swiss? Maybe it's single elimination. That shouldn't take long.
If I didn't have to work, I would seriously consider making the four hour trip down there, just because I want some of those sweet regional prizes. I mean, assuming I could break the top 15 somehow.
No it is a Swiss formatted tourney, I think all regioinals have to be not sure. I am calling when they open to confim and ask questions. I will post response here.
I called and it is going to start at 5pm on Saturday. They also said they stay open til midnight, and sometimes later to just hang out. Sounds cool with me. I hope it has enough people attending. I know a few are coming from Fort Worth and a few from Houston.
Hey all:
First, I really do apologize for missing a useful window to reply to some of your questions. For what it's worth:
Start time: We regularly run tournaments with a similar time requirement starting as late as 7:30 p.m., and we work to make sure the tournaments are run in a disciplined way from a T.O. standpoint, i.e., rounds stick to the announced time limits, etc. And, as others have said, we are open until midnight and often later than that at the owners' discretion, so there's plenty of time to run a 4-round Swiss tournament with a finals bracket within our store hours. If we ever get into situations where the tournaments run beyond store hours, we stay open until they are done. Having said that, next year we will probably start earlier to be more considerate to the out-of-town players, and we appreciate folks' constructive criticism on that point.
Format: The FFG regionals are Standard Swiss by FFG design.
Stay tuned, as we will post some detailed meta information about the tournament and the deck lists from the top four players.
