Plot resolution question

By Ikaros, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi.

We stumbled upon a certain situation, a couple of games ago, and I'd like to be sure how things should have worked.

During plot phase, Player A reveales Valar Morghulis (When revealed, kill all characters in play) and Player B reveals Drunken Allegations (When revealed, choose an opponent. Then, you and that opponent must each choose and kneel a standing character).

Player B also has Timett son of Timett (Clansman. Knelt Clansmen characters you control cannot be killed) in play.

First player decides plot resolution order.

If Drunken Allegations is resolved before Valar Morghulis, and Drunken Allegations is used to kneel Timett, Timett escapes Valar Morghulis. No questions here.

But what happens if Valar Morghulis is choosen before Drunken Allegations? Do Valar Morghulis resolves completely (Timett leaves play) before Drunken Allegations is initiated? Or, when Drunken Allegations is initiated, Timett is still in play, but moribund?

Beside this example, is it possibile for a moribund character to become "cannot be killed" before leaving play? If so, what happens?

Thanks..

If Valar were to resolve first, Timmet would be killable at step 3 (resolution) unless he were saved at step 2 (save cancel). At this point, it's too late for a save and he's already "killed", but he's moribund (until step 6 of the window). Kneeling him and making him cannot be killed won't matter - he's already "killed", and his destination is the dead pile. You could still use an effect like "Retreat" (in step 4) to change his moribund destination to your hand, but you're not going to be able to keep him in play.

In short
1. Valar Initiates
2. Save/Cancel
3. Valar Resolves, killing Timmet (now Moribund: Dead)
1. DA initiates
2. Save/cancel
3. You kneel Timmet (he's still moribund)
4. Passives triggered by any of the above
5. Responses to any of the above (Eg aforementioned retreat)
6. Moribund cards leave play

Timmet often comes up in timing questions, so let's give another example: If you have Tyrion and Timmet, and the opponent revealed Valar

1. Valar Initiates
2. Save:Cancel (You Save Tyrion by kneeling Timmet), Timmet is now "cannot be killed"
3. Valar Resolves, killing all characters that were not saved and can be killed

In this case, because you were able to kneel Timmet before the valar resolves, you're able to prevent his death.
