Melisandre + Noyne

By Ikaros, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi.

Does this combo works?

Melisandre (Five Kings): Response: After a player reveals a character card, put that card into its owner's dead pile (limit once per phase).

and

Noyne: Each opponent plays with the top card of his or her deck revealed.

I.e., is there a passive effect who triggers because of Noyne? A passive effect Melisandre can respond to?

Thank you.

I would say no, because the opponent is not revealing the card himself.

The answer is (mostly) "no," but the reasoning is a bit different.

Noyne is a constant effect. The top card of your deck is revealed when it comes into play and then stays revealed until the location leaves play. The identity of the top card of the deck changes, but the overall effect (play with the top card of your deck revealed) affects the deck as a whole, it does not initiate each time a new card becomes the top card.

So, there is nothing for Mel to Respond to because there is no effect initiating or being newly applied each time a new card becomes the top card of the deck.

Ok, thank you for this clarification!
