Bitter Rivals vs.new keyword mechanics

By Loc_asylum, in UFS Rules Q & A

Bitter Rivals :

E Reveal your hand: Your Opponent reveals their hand. Either change the attack zone of this attack to any other zone or your opponent discard 1 card with a keyword ability (your choice) .

After looking at the New Keyword mechanics with the entire keyword system overhaul. stating that what are Keyword ability are now. so with that on the clarification on them will Bitter Rivals able to make your opponent discard Card with Unique, throw, Terrain, Ranged now? As they are now classaifed as keyword ability now?

Effective the release of Set 12, yes.

Between now, and Set 12 being legal for play - Status Quo reigns.

So punch, throw, kick, and ,weapon are this as well ?

No.

Punch is a keyword trait - No rules associated

Throw is a keyword ability - there are rules associated with the keyword.

Kick is a keyword trait - No rules associated

Weapon is a keyword trait - No rules associated

and where can we see those new mechanics and rules?

yeah just seen it and ok I see that my bad for the mistake.

So after Set 12 is released, all the ranged cards will be considered to have the ability to block another ranged attack as if the blocking card had a mid block of +0? Every single ranged attack..?

in short, yes.

follow up question: as of set 12, if i block a throw can i use the R on silver spoon to make it so i take zero damage?

No. Throw is a "static" keyword ability. And thus cannot be negated. Also it is never considered "played" so there is no trigger for silver spoon.

So Hooligan Throw will start dealing half damage when blocked come set 12?

In Legacy, yes it will.

thank god now that card is useful

so all Keywords in this current sets won't be altered too much in set 12 but will have to be converted to the new rules after set 12 releases, such as throws (as explained above), but combos and the new terrain rules are definite changes right?

Combo does not exist prior to Set 12. You will not find Combo Cards in earlier sets.

Terrain is a major change to what used to be simply a keyword trait. It retroactively effects 30 cards, once set 12 releases.

Ranged - most ranged cards already had the block text. This simply removes the text from every ranged card, but leaves the ability in tact. Allowing for cleaner looking cards.

Throw - See Ranged, but replace ranged with Throw.

Breaker - Is really how it's ruled to work now, but is simply matching the ruling with actual game text.

Everything else is as you knew it to be.
