Question about Draw Their Fire + Stealth Devices

By El_Tonio, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Stealth Devices says, "If you are hit by an attack, discard this card."

Draw Their Fire says, "When a friendly ship at range 1 is hit by an attack, you may suffer 1 of the uncanceled CRIT results instead of the target ship."

So, does a ship get to keep Stealth Devices if it uses Draw Their Fire to suffer the CRIT for another ship? I'm thinking yes (but am not 100% sure) since another ship was actually targeted and hit by the attack and the ship with SD and DTF is just taking the damage instead of them (i.e., the ship with SD and DTF was never attacked, never had to roll defense dice, etc.).

What do folks think?

Stealth Device stays intact.

"Hit" has a firm definition in the rules - during Step 6 (Compare Results) there must be hits or crits which were not canceled by the defender. That is a hit, and the only way to strip a stealth device - asteroids, assault missiles, Draw Their Fire, self-inflicted damage from Daredevil, etc, will not affect it.

I'll back up this interpretation and agree 100%.

Thanks! I like this card more and more all the time. :)

Lets say you have:

Luke

Stealth Device

Han

Stealth Device

Draw Their Fire

If Luke gets shot at, and Han uses his DTF ability to take an uncancelled hit, Han would keep his stealth device, however Luke would lose his.
