I failed to qualify for the top 8, but I thought I would share my experience and deck as well. Based off of this tournament, the game seems extremely healthy right now. There were more Chaos and Orc decks than anything else, but every faction was represented. I think only two decks (odd orc decks) had the same theme, everything else was different.

I still think that my deck was better than it performed. I ended up with a tough schedule out of my four matcheups two of them were against the two who played in the final game. I still really like this deck, but I may end up looking to play with something different come Gen Con.

Game 2 he completely controlled the game, using Helstorm Rocket Battery to move everything to my quest, which meant for many of my units being destroyed, since they are battlefield only.

Funny thing is this is not how it works XD

I just spoke to Adam about this and the guy he was playing was new to the game and Adam wasn't 100% sure himself so they asked a guy nearby his thoughts and they went with it. We had a FAQ on hand and could have pushed it further if he wanted, but we are a pretty friendly bunch that aren't out for blood. We will use group concensus a lot of times before looking things up to keep the games moving.

I agree. Fun first, rules later!

Been ages since I've played W:I, but dam(n), how can tourney players not know/remember even the basic rules pensativo ?

Thanks for the info, Khaine! It sounds like you're still getting new people out to your tournaments, despite the game being one of the older LCGs now, which is really great. Growth is the hardest thing to achieve, in my opinion, when you don't have some critical mass of player numbers. Congrats on what looks like a great event!

Thanks HappyDD! WHI is second only to netrunner in our area. We were very excited to have 14 players and hope to see that many at the other regional in Louisville and in Bloomington IN (which is free by the way).

For North America 14 players is huge especially considering 20 is an average number at big events like Gen Con and Worlds.

Also, love the podcast! Many of the guys there were talkng about it.

Hello everyone. Congratulations to Steve for organization ( ¿ what happens to the warrior deck? ) and to Adam for victory, with this tournament you begin the road to the worlds, as FFG says. I hope see you again here.

Bye.

Whats up Sergio!? Thanks for the kudos. I had to retire that deck after you masacred it at worlds. I've been rocking a modified version the the crappy dwarf deck I showed you with your suggested tunnel fighter > stand your ground > king kazador combo, which goes off more than I originally thought it would.

I beat Adam's Brayherd deck with it early in the day, but was defeated in the top 4 by Brian's slayer deck. Veteran Thunderers are really great and gave him too many off turn options for me to deal with. Between the Demolitions and Spirit Slayer he was able to choke my quest zone while beating me in the face at the the same time.

I have 2 more regionals in my area to attempt win a ticket in. Even if I don't win one I'll probably still try and go again this year (especially since the ticket is only $25 anyway).

Did your Dark Elves survive all the new restrictions? I see there is no regional in Spain this year, are you planning to travel to attend one? Or are you thinking of convincing your wife that a trip to the Mall of America in November would be the perfect family vacation?

PS: That netrunner badge under your profile icon is pure blasphemy!

Hi, Steve. How are you? i'm happy to hear about you and all the people i meet in America. It will be a regional in Spain and i will attemp to go, but the company that publish the game in Spain haven't give any dates for the LCG days, that is the name they give to our lcg regional tournaments. My dark elf deck was over powered with muster for war and all his stuff and now is weak against many decks, but i'm triying to improve it. Is true that i suffer the restrictions as many other decks, remember world championship final, but new faq with all his changes was necesary to give fresh air to the game and balance it. Here in Europe many players play orcs ( not combo) and dwarfs again, and now the warrior deck is stronger against control than before. About the netrunner i must say that i've only played a couple of times, is too diferent to our beloved Warhammer and play two LCG at the high level is not easy and expensive.

My best regards to you and your group.

Well You've inspired me to put the warriors back together. I did it last night and will test it out on Friday.

I find in our local group certain people tend the play the same factions all the time regardless of game fluxuations. I myself tend toward Emipire and Dwarves while my buddy Leon ussually plays either Chaos or Orcs. I think a lot of this is determined by play style, but also not wanting play a lot of mirror matches as well.

I was talking to Leon the other day and he said he was thinking of puting his Big Orc deck back to together and use a lot of the control cards. I'll post the deck lists again in May!

Glad you guys are going to get a regional! How many people do you expect?

I originally wasn't going to post this since my battery on my phone died and I wasn't able to record the whole thing, but I decided to anyway.

Here is a video of the final match between Adam and Brian in the first Louisville Regional. It only covers the last part of the 1st game and most of the second before it cuts off, but I thought I'd post it for those interested.
