Latest preview- possible interpretations of the Chapel

By xfoley96, in Elder Sign

Looking at the newest preview, it looks like there might be some new game mechanics that are open to interpretation.

The Chapel indicates you can spend 8 trophies to bless any investigator, or, if the investigator is already blessed, gain an item. I can't imagine that a blessed investigator would have to spend 8 trophies to gain the item- I'm thinking it must be that a blessed investigator can visit the chapel to gain an item for free . Or, can any investigator visit the chapel, and, even if he is not blessed, gain a free item for an investigator who is (even if the blessed one is not at the Chapel)? I would guess that in order to gain the free item, the blessed investigator would have to be the one visiting the Chapel, although I can certainly see the teamwork element in being able to gain free stuff for someone else. Also, if the investigator visiting the Chapel is blessed, and someone else is, too, would the same rule apply, and the one at the Chapel could hand off the free item to another blessed investigator?

No, I dont see any other ways to interpret that card. The abilities on the card are all contingent on you spending 8 trophies. You spend 8 trophies and then can either bless an investigator or give a blessed investigator an item. There is no free.

It would then costs 8 trophies to allow another Blessed investigator to take an item of his choice. It's expensive, but it would be the only way to spend your trophies to allow someone else to get an item. Probably not worth it, in the end.

i agree- this interpretation makes sense. I also agree that it would rarely make sense to use the Chapel for that purpose.
