I'll bet even money that the concerned parties reading this thread didn't even check to see what the International Council of Toy Industries' standards were. Probably just saw the response from FFG and thought, "Oh, well, that's good then, right?"

The first thing I did was to Google them and spend a little while reading their website. Then I checked to see if they were mentioned in any news articles.

How much did we bet?

Sigh.. I had not intended to step into this debate… Oh well…

South Africa and apartheid is onesuch case where international pressure helped the local people to rise up and take down a political situation that was harmful to the indigenous Africans. I am in no way saying that the USA was responsible for the African liberty. However, when Coca-cola and several other companies were pressured to stop their fiscal support for the powers of South Africa, the fight for freedom became pretty inevitable.

Also, if you believe the FBI, of the 1920s through the1960s, then many of the pro-worker, pro-union protests were the work of forgein comunists. I cannot believe I'm refering to J. Edgar Hoover to show that international pressure has an influence in a country's domestic policies…

So the sum up the last six pages:

Some of the forum members are concerned about work conditions in China.

Some of the forum members are not concerned with work conditions in China

FFG is a member of ICTI and is satisfied with worker conditions in China.

Now we can all get back to playing some X-Wing!

I couldn't agree more, however in today's internet age where people will say whatever is on there mind I think this thread will go on for a long time. I mean there are hundreds if not thousands of instances of social injustice that we have not yet compared to the plight of a factory worker in China. You know the factory worker in China where we do not know what his/her wage is, how many hours a day/week the person works, and under what horrible/non horrible work conditions they work in, but yet everyone has an opinion of these unknown conditions.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that this is the only forum in the gaming community to be talking about this? I think the original poster of this thread found a hot game (that has a forum where a lot of people visit) that he/she chose not to buy until an answer was given. An answer was then given, but that is not enough.

I might not agree with everything that DoubleNot7 has posted on this thread, but agree with the last statement. Now we can all get back to playing some X-Wing!

but to clear it up, there were a couple of people who were concerned. I've posted the response I received for their benefit and for the benefit of others who might in the future be interested, not because my self-worth depends on it, as you've so kindly suggested. I also made a point of posting the information here so it would be more widely disseminated.

Thank you for asking Cilionelle, I certainly appreciate you asking, I was interested in the answer you posted and I would have amde an ethical decision to not purchase FFG goods if the answer was unsatisfactory.

It is only by asking these questions and holding companies to account, somethign I've done dozens of times, publically, loudly and to the attention of the company, that things change.

I'm, frankly, disgusted to discover there are so many selfish people posting here with comments as heartless as "Who Cares".

Posts like yours Cilionelle remind me there is concern for our fellow man and that despite the childish levels of selfish trolling, you stood up, took the flak, politely and constructively and got the information.

#Highfive you.
