I got a copy of the beta and have been reading the GM section. I came across the part where it gives advice on interpreting not only sucess, failure, Advantage, etc but also how which dice generated said results can be used. It may be old news to most here, but it's new to me and I'm ecstatic about how inspiring and fun this system is. Wonderful job, FFG!
OMG, I LOVE this system!

agree 100%. My game group gave it a try and found the dice alittle odd at first but soon settled into the exciting dynamic it brings.
The way I see it, there's a LOT of negativity about it so why not gush about the awesome?
I just want to say that I do agree, the dice system is great and that is why I moved to this game, but just to put things in place, the system of Star Wars EotE is not new. It is an evolution of the very same system that started in Warhammer Fantasy Role Play 3ed, where the lead designer was Jay Little.
I think we are lucky to have in Star Wars EotE a revised version of Warhammer 3. Indeed, Warhammer 3 had many flaws which have been partially or totally corrected in EotE. Nevertheless, despite its many flaws, one could already see the brilliance of the new dice system.
Cheers,
Yepes
True that, but I admit I've no experience with WHF3. It looks cool but I'm not into so much poop covering my fantasy. (Yes, that was a joke. I just didn't get that game).
STAR WARS!!!

For me, he biggest flaw of WFRP3 was the stance dice… with their drawbacks as well as successes. It's really quite nice that that was dropped.
The one thing I've borrowed for my EOTE play, however, is the stance track bits… couple those to use of the battle-ball figures, and space combat is MUCH easier to run… the minifigs fit ON the track!

What's that about?
For those of us who have played Warhammer 3, we have plenty of cardboard pieces. The stance tracker ones are like this

the 3/4" chibi style figures called "Star Wars Fighter Pods" released fit beautifully onto the WFRP3 stance track bits.
In space combat, the ship acts based upon when the pilot and gunners act; moving on the pilot's turn, shooting a weapon on each gunner's turn.
By using the figs during space combat, we can indicate who went when; it makes the whole play experience of space combat much better. (So does using X-Wing minis to indicate relative positions.)
To use them that way in ground action, one would want to be either narrating entirely, or have two sets, one for initiative, and a matched set for on-map or on-range-band-strip use.
