Software for online play

I have a couple of friends who are into the game, but they live very far away (as in; across the ocean). And here in my country, no one else seems to be playing this game or have any interest in playing this game (my girlfriend thinks I'm nuts for spending so much cash on miniature space ships). So I started thinking about a way to play it online. Ofcourse, if you really trust each other, you can do it just perfectly. But to avoid any disputes or accusations of cheating (and you know that no matter how good of friends you are, it will happen), I was thinking it would be fairly easy for a programmer to make a program which remembers your dial wheel choice and dice throw and let two players connect to it.

In the program, you would pick the same ships as you have on the battlefield. During the planning phase, you set your dials as usual and pick the corresponding moves in the program. Then you hit, finish. Your opponent does the same. After both have finished the planning phase, both will have to click on a button ('next' or 'go', whatever) and the moves from both sides will reveal themselves. You will also have icons which you can place on your ships, just the same as the tokens on the real ships.

I'm no programmer, but I think this is very easy to made for anyone who has basic knowledge of programming. It could even be text only, without any fancy pictures or stuff.
