firing through friendly ship

By Trumpet, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Played yesterday and we got a bit confused when firing if a friendly ship is in between attacker and defender do we just play as normal with no mods for obstacle or do we treat it as an obstacle we played it as there was no obstacle ie the ship in the way was higher or lower so not to block fire, is this correct?

Yes. Look on page 10 of the rules booklet. Under the expanded explanation for Step 1, the second paragraph under Firing Arc says specifically that other ships do not block firing arcs. You played it correctly.

Aye, you've got to look at it in terms of the space the ships are flying through/occupying is actually pretty big. So they don't really block each other for the sake of good gameplay.

Funny thing is when playing and looking through rule book you can never find the rule you want now I've read it and your posts it all makes sense but at least we played correctly
