Eager to get some test games in, I sat down w/ a friend to play a game. He wasn't in the mood for anything fancy, so he went with 5 Avenger Interceptors. I was scrolling through my list of rebel squads I wanted to test, when i was struck by inspiration, or stupidity. So I set up an Outer Rim Smuggler w/ the Falcon Title & 4 gold squadron Y-wings. That's right! No ion turrets, no droids or torpedoes or copilots. Just 5 ships w/ PS 1 or 2, 2 attack, 1 agility, and a combined 42 hull and shield.

Without getting into a play by play, I managed to win losing only a single Y-wing (he outsmarted me in the thrid round and managed to get 4 Interceptors boxed around it, 3 of them at range 1). Granted, his dice on both offense and defense started to roll below average after being on fire in the first three rounds, but we counted up the combined hull and shield I had left at the end of the match and it was 22. He didn't even managed to do half the damage needed to wipe me out w/ 5 ships at 3 attack dice.

I am not saying this is a viable tourney list, but if you have the ships I recommend trying it sometime. I think not only will you be surprised by how much of a beating your ships can take, but with such poor offensive statistics, this squad puts your skill at piloting and strategy to a rigorous test. It was one of the most fun games of SWX I've played in months.
