After having seen the pre-release news on the news tab of these very forums, it seems that Algol and Hilde are joining Ivy, Tira, Nightmare and Siegfried on the Soul Calibur IV roster for Set 12. Now, if there are to be 8 characters within the set (and the potential box-topper/pre-release character promo), that leaves 2 characters that have yet to be announced. So, who do you think the characters will be?

Personally, given that Algol managed to get into the set, I'd be shocked if Amy didn't wriggle her way in, as she's a new-ish character to the franchise. I say new-ish because she HAS been in Soul Calibur II, and in fact, UFS as a bonus character, so does this mean that we've had enough of her already?

I think it's safe to say that Taki and Mitsurugi won't be in this set, although I wouldn't be surprised if some of their fellow Set 1 characters were on the roster. Specifically Voldo and Astaroth, given their previous popularity and their grandeur in the card game. However, Tira has been said to be the quirky character of Set 12, so does this push Voldo out of the runnings in favour of the ever-popular Cassandra and Xianghua?

I'd like to see Xianghua and Amy make the cut, but I think Voldo and Astaroth are the more likely candidates, simply due to there being a need for a 'butch' character like Astaroth to counter the female-favouring meta we have today and Voldo having won championships while not having any other character like him.

i agree with what you wrote up, but i'm the only person who even remotely liked Voldo. you can ask james 10 times and he will tell you 11 times that he hates voldo.

so i'm not holding my breath for him. astafish, on the other hand, i'm sure would be welcome by a larger audience.

I love Voldo! UR Voldo was the first character I saw in a pack! He was the first character I played besides the demo Taki and Chun-Li. It would be cool to see a character card with him facing away from the front of the card! If James hates him, then I could probably see Astaroth. He was my first face owning block 2 character. Lord, did he own face until evil punched him in the god-like nuggets.

My guess is Astaroth and Cervantez. Two of my favorite SC chars and each is w/o a card in block 3.

Probably won't happen, but I really want Yun Seong back... and hopefully as retarded as the two other previous versions.

I'd put my money on Astaroth and Cassandra.

The next release would probably see the likes of Voldo, X, Yun-Seong, and the rest of the crew.

I was probably the only one to play amy back in the day so i would love to see her again but it probably wont happen as for what will though astaroth for sure since he is absent in block 3 and probably cassandra she is also absent in block 3

Actually, now that you mention it...it's been ages since we had a Maxi. I'm going to switch my money to Maxi instead of Cassie (sorry, Cass...you know I still luff you, right?).

Anyways on-topic, as chars in SC had multiple outfits, I want to see Astaroth in the blue-rock like outfit. I always thought that one was his coolest (especially with a bright green afro).

Anyone else have any guesses which art they will be using for the chars?

Well, since it's a "new" license, and the characters all have costumes they've not had before in UFS, they'll probably do their default costumes to start with, and then give their alternates to any promo versions. In the case of a character being promo first, then it'll likely be the opposite.

I'm so happy that they're releasing another Nightmare.. I don't care how bad he is I'll build him regardless.

I hope that the 2 unknown characters are characters we haven't seen or been able to use yet.

Astaroth is 100% guarenteed in the set, though the artwork can make it a little hard to tell it is him considering he is a giant lava man lol.

None of the Shadowar characters in the set are mentioned.

On a potentially related note, Command the Sandstorm's collector's number would seem to indicate that either (1) they're changing the numbering system, (2) there is no Zi Mei, Yi Shan, Temujin or Zhao Daiyu in the Shadowar set, or (3) the starter characters are in addition to (as opposed to a part of) the 8 characters/set thing... I'm guessing it's (1), but it could be (3). Did we ever get a clear answer on the starter characters in regards to the 8/set count?
