Damage cards when ship is killed.

By chrisrivers, in X-Wing Rules Questions

This is something that I have wondered. Do you still draw the cards from the damage deck when the ship will be killed? This in effect removes cards from play so they will not be used later.

Rulebook, page 13, under "Deal Damage":

"For each damage or critical damage suffered, the ship must lose one shield token. If it has no shield tokens, it must receive one Damage Card instead.

When the number of Damage cards dealt to a ship equals or exceeds its hull value, that ship is destroyed. "

Seems pretty clear cut to me. Also look on page 16 under "Destroyed ships."

Yes, deal ALL damage cards to a ship before determining if it has been destroyed. In addition, as per the Simultaneous Attack rule (page 16), any critical hit effects will be in play if the ship is not destroyed immediately and can make a final attack.

One last statement. If your damage card deck empties, you take the cards from the destroyed ships, shuffle, and draw from this new deck.

I would say to house rule that… Or if you ware worried about it, and are able… use the tourney rules where each side gets their own deck.

I never have gotten close to running out with one deck but I suppose if you are building all y-wing squads and do a mirror match it could happen.

Even 2 falcons will be just above 50% of the deck.
