How many dice sets are you ordering?

By El_Tonio, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I have one from the beginner set, and I preordered at least one more as I think it would be very helpful to have two sets. I'm trying to figure if it's worth getting a third set. What do you think? And, do you they'll sell out of dice sets, or do think there will be plenty to go around?

0. While I enjoy the dice system for this game, high skill/modified rolls can involve upwards of 10+ dice which is insane for a small or even medium sized table.

Too many dice, too easy to get lost/mixed up/disappear (not to mention germiphobes nightmare)

I plan on using a tablet with dice app plugged into large 19"+ external monitor for everyone at the table to see

I ordered 1 set and have the dice from beginer box.

I have the application on me iPhone and iPad, but I'm planning on buying another set (order the one I have with the beginner's set)

Great idea! But, I just like rolling dice too much and roll in a small dice tray when needed.

A tray or a tower work great for this.

After his love letter to dice , I think reading this would make Jay a very sad panda, indeed.

I have a set from the Beginner's Game and 3 on order.

I have two Beginner's boxes and have 5 sets of dice on order… I like a lot of dice available at my table.

Currently have the Beginner set dice and homemade dice from two beta books for a total of 3 sets. It's usually enough around the table, so I'll upgrade my homemade ones eventually.

I have 2-3 sets of homemade dice, but they are starting to wear (I printed copies of the sticker sheet, rather than using the original), plus one beginner box set. I have 2 more sets on order to replace the homemades.

I have one set from the BG, and another set preordered. But I can certainly see myself buying more sets post-release, when I'm walking around downtown and looking to separate myself from some dough.

Which is pretty ridiculous, since I'll probably never get to play this game. I just love them dice! :D

Why won't you get to play the game? Are you still running a campaign in Saga Edition and struggling to bring your players over?

I can't speak for I. J. Thompson, but that's certainly my problem at the moment.

I've got two sets of dice filched from beginner sets and one on order. I certainly won't rule out buying more after release if I can get a discounted price on them.

For me it's basically just no players/no time. Doesn't seem to stop me from buying the stuff, though! :D

RE: Yoshiyahu

I've given some thought to that issue since it was a similar problem for me. My SAGA campaign ran out of steam towards the end of last year. They accomplished the majority of the campaign and then there was a TPK close to the end of the game when they were attempting to break a Jedi out of prison. The mission wasn't the grand finale, but certainly pretty close to it, needless to say I took a bit of flak for not just handwaving them into being captured themselves, but the campaign was already labouring.

Now that the new FFG version has come out, I was quite excited to start something new and bring some of those players back but I've already had some of them tell me that they are unwilling to leave the SAGA ed campaign and start a new one since they felt it was unfinished. I haven't yet worked out how to entice them across, but when I do I'll be sure to post it.

RE: I.J. Thompson

Strange since you were fairly prolific back in the SAGA ed days on the WoTC boards. What happened to all your players? Or were you a collector then too?

*Edit: These forums seem to be trickty to use.

**Edit: I give up, why wont you just give it to me in straight BBCode please, no fancy formatting tools.

You weren't running a DoD campaign, were you?

At the risk of hijacking the thread, I'll just say that a few of my players really prefer gridded, tactical combat. I think a more abstract system like EotE is intimidating to them because there aren't rules for every little thing. As a GM (and as a player, though I don't get to do that very often) I find the more narrative emphasis of EotE liberating, but my players- whose first experience with tabletop RPG's was Saga Edition- say it lacks "structure." I think it boils down to play style, and some of my players preferring "roll-playing" over "role-playing."

I'm hoping that once we finish our campaign (we're working on the latter half of a DoD campaign right now) I can talk them into trying another EotE one-shot, and maybe giving it another chance. If they still vote it down, I'll probably just have to wait a while before I can play EotE.

Nope, it was a Legacy Era campaign I had run for about 1 year. However being Legacy Era a lot of the themes were similar to the Dark Times, with Jedi being around, but under constant threat. Having read DoD I did steal some of the neater ideas, prison break being one of them.

Enough thread hijack, back to the main point, I've just got dice from the beginners set. I may order one more set, but more likely I will just convince everyone to get the app.

Because these appear to be a custom written forum site as opposed to something stable and more readily used, like phpBB or vBulletin.

I bought one set beyond the beginner box set, even though I wanted to buy more! Love the dice! My players are gunna buy their own so I resisted. Lol

I have two sticker sets, and the Beginner Box set. I ordered one more set.

I'm going with two sets plus the one I have from the starter box. I also have the Iphone app which works amazing. I think that should do it.

I'm really hoping to convince my group to move over to this system. As I'm the main instigator though, I'll buy a couple sets of dice for people to use. If they like it, I imagine they'll buy their own.

After playing the WEG system for nearly 25 years though, it'll be a hard sell.

We stopped using any real dice the moment we got the dice app, both in EotE and XW tmg. .. I can't really say why, but it just happend absolutly smooth and without anyone arguing.

so: I'll buy none :) (I got one with the beginners box though)

Got one with the beginners box, might buy another. $15 is rather steep. I could get a premium set of "normal" dice from chessex for less. Looking to get the app also.

But I did create an excel spreadsheet that allows me to simulate dice rolls. All i have to do is enter in the number and type of dice, hit CTRL+SHIFT+F9 to reload the page and it shows the result. Even figures out the cancled symbols so I don't have to do any thinking or math.
