Your ideal 4 investigator team

All this makes me wonder what the group from hell would be. That is, the sorriest gang of misfits imaginable. Vincent, Mark, Amanda, and Jim, maybe?

Dump Mark and toss in Dexter Drake and you got my "brown pile" group.

Nah. Dump Mark for Sister Mary. Vincent, Mary, Amanda, and Jim. That is a crappy group. No fighters, no good spellcasters, highest speed is a 4. None of the characters has a decent power. It's a dreadful, dreadful team.

For power, Wendy, Mandy, Daisy, and Darrell. But I play random characters.

Complete agreement.

I'm agreeing with Avi.

Again.

THE STARS HAVE ALIGNED! SOON THE EARTH SHALL PERISH!

If we were so inclined, to gather the ideal team (with "ideal" meaning "win with 99%" certainty as opposed to "actual fun") we'd use:

Daisy + Kate + Jacqueline + Wilson

It's not always enough that Kate is there to stop the gate openings. There are some rumors you don't want resolving. And if you're playing with KiY, any terror level raise from a Mythos card can flood the streets with Rioters or something else that Kate can't stop.

For those cards, you need Jacqueline.

Yes, since you see 3 cards with Arcane Insight you can always put the unwanted ones last but Jacqueline is for adding that extra 1% security so you can burn unwanted cards off the top with 2 clue tokens and not get stuck with looking at 3 cards you don't want resolving, pretty much ever.

Wilson is there to provide the motorcycle for Kate. Also, he can just use his "Gain 1$" ability instead of risking an encounter when collecting clues. Also, kills the (very) few monsters that ever get loosed on the streets. (Yes, we could use Mandy, but as long as you don't have bad luck finding tomes, her ability doesn't contribute that much. The speed from motorcycle is important with Dunwich. It's okay for Daisy to fail the roll every once in a while, just not on consecutive turns.)

We've used this team once. Never again. It's horribly boring. Short of Daisy seriously failing to succesfully cast the Insight (or reading her Livre d'Ivon) turn after turn and no-one drawing the additional Tomes to help her this is just guaranteed victory against any AO - Herald - Expansion combination. The time we played, after the initial 2 gates, only one gate opened that we didn't mean to (and that because Kate got bumped into the streets from her encounter). We reached a point pretty quickly where we had to let a gate open so we'd collect the required number of trophies. (Everything was already closed.)

Daisy, Livre d'Ivon, Arcane Insight... One of these days I'm going to burn one of those three in the fireplace. All copies included.

Perhaps the question should be, what would the ideal 4 player team be without Drawing Kate?

::Shrug:: or you could just make a house rule that Daisy and Kate can't be played in the same game. Or a house rule that Livre d'Ivon can not be used to search for Arcane Insight (if Kate is in a game).
