Question 1 - Are area cards limited? Can you only play a certain amount each round (outside of the cards saying limited on them)
Question 2 - Are cards with +1 or 2 gold limited as well and if so how many can you play a round?
I ask this because I played a friend who had 3-4 cards with +1 and 2 gold, Constantly built up gold and was able to play down any card he wanted and gave me quite the beatdown because of it. It was incredibly annoying because he was house Lannister and also had Littlefinger on the field, who gained strength for each unspent gold. Care to help me out on this?
Questions
I assume you mean locations when you say area. If so, they are not limited unless they specifically have the "limited" keyword, as The Goldroad and Lannisport Treasury , along with the majority of the other gold producing locations, do. You can play as many as you want, as long as you have the means to pay for them. There are, however, a number of non-limited gold producing locations, most commonly the chambers cards (such as Queen Cersei's Chambers ) that every house has and the neutral Crossroads . The Lannisters do have an annoying aptitude for producing gold, as you've learned first hand, as they have a slew of cheap characters with income bonuses, such as the Lannisport Steward and Lannisport Weaponsmith , none of which are limited (it's one of the strengths of the house, unfortunately). Littlefinger himself has a nice +2 gold bonus, so I quite readily believe that your opponent was able to flood the board with income boosters and play out any card he desired…
Remember, you can only play one card with the "Limited" keyword each round.
Beyond that, there is no limit to the number of cards you can play each round, or the number of card you can have in play. There is also no limit to the number of modifiers that can be applicable at any one time, or the number of cards with similar modifiers/abilities that you can have in play at any one time.
So yeah, if someone wants to build a deck where just about every card has a +X gold icon, they're going to count a ton of gold in each Marshalling phase.
