Pot'o'Gold and a Treasure Chest

By JCHendee, in Talisman

No, not new cards, but just some novelty items of potential amusement that I ran across during my web wanderings. Imagine either as a nice little storage container sitting next to the board for your Gold tokens.

Haha gran_risa.gif

It would be so nice to have a little treasure box close to your character chart to put your coins in gran_risa.gif

Nice. The 1" coins that come with the pot could be used as 5G too...

(PS - Nice score on the points too JC! gran_risa.gif )

Huh? I still don't get what the points are really used for... Eric at FFG gave 'em to me for my troubles with the forum and helping track some broken links to a help file about the forum's "post editor."

5G for the big gold? Yeah... now there's an idea!!! aplauso.gif

Of course that treasure chest would also make a nice general container for all the games gold reserves as well.

I think I'll just have to buy those... and see if they will still fit in game box.

[ADDITIONAL: I went ahead and ordered them both.]

Hi Jon

Can you tell me how does those points work. I wonder where they are for...

I see i have 52 myself, but what does it mean?

I hear that if you get 500, you get to level 2 and receive a new feat ;)

Points are awarded for various "community" reasons, such as posting and registering etc. There is a post detailing certain parts of it in the Support Forum and there are monthly raffles held and members can win various bits and pieces from FFG. Sometimes people are awarded bonus points for various things, like JC. Sadly it seems that it is open to some abuse, but people will always find a way to do that...

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the information.

I must say, that i don't really care about those points, but at least i know where they are for gran_risa.gif

I like the forum and the people here, and i have fun to talk with them gran_risa.gif

HA!!! The lower the points the better. I got ya all beat!

You could have the treasure chest for Good characters and the cauldron for e'vil??? Look nice, both of them.

Looks like my pot of gold and treasure chest should arrive early next week. I expect them to be cheezy plastic, but they should still be fun! I'm going with Jon's suggestion of the larger ones equaling 5G, and just dump all the gold into the treasure chest for a game storage container. I'm not sure what I'll do with the pot (cauldron).

It looks nice to have them.

So.. it's made of plastic? You could not expect that, if you look to the treasure chest lol gran_risa.gif

Finally got them. The chest is cut and thematic (plastic with kind of gold/ rustic finish), but it has no latch to keep it closed.

The cauldron in pure black think plastic, dull finish of course, but its a little less endearing.

The coins are all the same size and as big as a 50 cent piece... much larger than expected (even for 5g piece in the game) . They seem to be made of pressed/minted thin tin with gold finish. Made in China with a possibly Greco-Roman motif (bust) on them.

Overall, for $10 including S&H, still worth the peek. I'll either use rubber band to keep the chesk closed or hit hobby shop to find some tiny latch to apply to it. As a point of reference, the chest is big enough (length and wide) to likely drop a deck of 2nd Adventure cards into it face down.

I must admit I was wondering if the chest might be of use as a card holder with the cards end on... I'm still looking for a cheap and cheerful solution before I embark on a building frenzy!

Thanks for the "review" JC!

Is that 2nd ED cards or a 2nd deck? :)

Because if you can fit 4RED cards in it, that would be of some interest to me. Depending on how many....

haven't really checked it for cards, but I'm guessing it would take 4er... but they'd have to lay flat in the bottom with no place for discard. Probably not recommended.

ADDITIONAL: Okay, I just checked it. It will hold a standard 4er Adventure deck laid flat... rather loose though, and certainly no place for discard. And any additional expansion cards would probably not fit as well.
