A few quick questions on BW

By David707, in StarCraft

I'm getting the expansion very soon :) , just wanted a few points clarified!

1) Is it true archon's cost 1 more gas (due to the fact they used to be overpwered for ther cost)?

2) Is it true the 'Nuke' tech card for the ghost doesn't have collateral damage? Surely that'd be madness...

3) Will i have to completely change my tactics due the new units, or do the same old tactics still work well with small changes?

4) Are the scenario's cool/good?

5) Are leadership cards overpowered?

6) How much do heroes rock?

7) Is it true they imporved the firebat, making it actually worth buying now?

8) Is it true that due to the fact you put on the flying stands, i will get no broken peices?

9) How cool are the new units?

10) With the expansion, is the game shorter/longer/the same length? How long willl it take to play?

11) And just to make sure, although i already know the answer, is it worth buying?

1) True

2) True, unfortunately... But, it's not hard to alter the rules for this card.

3) I wouldn't describe those changes as "small": there are much more units exploiting Cloaking, so Detector is more important now. In addidion, Leadership cards with its heroes and different sets of starting units make huge differences for almost all strategies. Now you should pay twice as much attention to others' plans/possibilities as before the BW.

4) ---

5) They don't seem to be, although much depends on galaxy setup & its sizes.

6) Just keep them alive (what's not hard) and you should be satisfied of them ;-)

7) I haven't seen his cards yet, but I know that Marines have no longer any Splash Damage cards vs Zerglings/Marines/Zealots. So, if you want this splash, you just need to build Firebats.

8) ---

9) Well, most of them are hard to kill (they are flying/assist/cloaking units), so they are all definitely worth of building, especially if you can research reguired cards fast.

10) It is definitely less predictable, so it must take more time.

11) ;-)

1)Yeah they cost more, and have +1 on support instead of +2, but they still kick ass.

2)yes it is lame that nuke doesn't have collateral damage.

3) You will have to change quite a bit for all the new units and modules.

4) I haven't done the scenarios yet

5) Leadership cards are really good but not overpowered

6) heroes are good but the non hero leadership cards are often more powerful.

7) The firebat is slightly more powerful, but the barracks are far better now because of this and medics.

8) Yeah the packaging is smarter this time.

9) The new units are really cool

10) The game is longer. There are more event cards and people take their special victory less often.

11) The expansion is definately worth it, I wouldn't play it without it anymore.

i've a question:

if i play whit zerg, i can build Command Infested Center only if i played whit a terran...and in a planet that have a terran' base ?

Thanks

i've a question:

if i play whit zerg, i can build Command Infested Center only if i played vs a terran...and in a planet that's present a terran' base ?

Thanks

To get an infested command center you need to purchase the tech then bring a queen to a battle with a terran command center in the contested area and win it.

Yeah, about that card : I wondered for some time if you need to win the battle to infest the command center. But then I realized that you retreat before then end of the battle so yes you do need to win it, but it's not clear at first sight.

Thanks for the answers :) , i should be getting this friday or moday and i can't wait! Untill then i'll carry on playing the core game and staring at pictures of the expansion on BGG and forgetting my previous strategies. :)

PS Has anyone played the scenario's yet? I can see why not wiht the random planetry set-up being one of the many good bits of the game, but i'm kind of expecting the scenario's to put an interesting spin on 'usual' play, making you use different tactics etc.
