Some new guy questions, cluster missiles and Han Solo

By Jak Damage, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Ok so, with the cluster missiles, you get to perform the attack twice. I'm assuming this means two attack rolls, so my question is, does this mean you roll twice and add them together, or are they seperate attacks? Does the defender get to roll twice to defend, or only once?

Now for Han Solo, It says on the card: "When Attacking, you may reroll all of your dice. If you choose to do so, you must reroll as many dice as possible." How does this work with things like Target Lock and other cards? At what point do you reroll?

Thanks for helping out, just trying to get things right.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

you only get one time to do a re-roll during an attack, so with han's ability you cannot use target lock and then his afterwords

with cluster missles it is 2 separate attacks and yes the defender rolls defense twice

also note that han's ability can trigger for both attacks

I only get one reroll? Forgive me, did I miss this rule somewhere?

More specifically, each dice may only be rerolled once in each attack. This can be found on pg 12 in the sidebar. You could use Target Lock to reroll some of the dice and then Han to reroll the rest of them, but there are very few circumstances where that will be useful.

As far as your original question goes: the Cluster Missiles upgrade gives you two seperate attacks. For each attack, you could choose to use Han's ability and your opponent gets to roll a new set of defense dice.

Sorry if this question is asked somewhere else, but I'll piggyback onto this thread, as it's close to the question that came up.

Scenario:

Han has Cluster Missiles and Gunner.

"Han Solo: When attacking, you may reroll all of your dice. If you chose to do so, you must reroll as many of your dice as possible."

Cluster Missiles: Spend your target lock and discard this card to perform this attack twice.

Gunner: After you perform an attack that does not hit, immediately perform a primary weapon attack. You cannot perform another attack this round."

So, here's how we read this interaction:

Han shoots Cluster Missiles, he may reroll this attack if he chooses. If this first cluster missiles attack misses, gunner (immediately) activates and he performs a primary weapon attack. Han may reroll the dice on this attack. He then loses the second half of the cluster missiles attack.

Are we correct in this interpretation?

If so, he really needs to do all he can to make sure the first missiles attack hits. The optimal scenario would be first attack hits, second either misses or hits. If the second misses, gunner activates and attacks.

Edit: digging deeper, I found magadizer and Carist talked about this in a thread on page 8.

They agree with our interpretation, but still sent it into FFG for clarification.

That's the thread I remembered seeing but could not find on Sunday. I think I only went to page 6. Now I know why I couldn't remember a definitive answer. reir
