Hi all;

Just wanted to post a gaming mat that a friend of mine and myself quickly (2hrs) threw together for X-Wing. 3'x3' clear plastic sheet with black material 'spray adhesived' to said plastic sheet. A couple of cans of GW and Tamiya spray paint then clear laquered with Tamiya clear, and hey presto. It's not fantastic, but for a first attempt, I'm considering it a 'pass' moreso than a fail.

So far my friend and I have played 3 games on it (Mission 1 - alternating forces, and 1 game of mission 2). Makes such a huge difference having a purpose made surface to play on.

Looks great! I can see how that would be way more fun than playing on a tabletop with colored pencils/crayons painted all over it

Completely agree with the play surface making a big difference. I've had a 3' x 3' black felt with some small "stars" painted onto it for months now. Simple and took basically no time to make, but man is it nice to play on top of that versus woodgrain.

Eventually I'd like to build an honest-to-God table for X-Wing, similar to what I've done in the past for 40k. I drew up some designs in CAD here at work, but with two little kids, I've not had time to really do much with it. Someday though… someday.
