Picked up my wave 2 collection on Friday, and took them down to the game store with my twelve year old son on Saturday to try them out.
Our first game was the Falcon (Han Solo with Nien Nunb, engine upgrade, Millineum Falcon title, homing missiles and elusiveness) versus Slave I (Boba Fett with heavy laser cannon and a couple others). I played the Falcon.
The Falcon mopped the floor with Fett, although I don't think my son was familiar enough with the upgrades to use them effectively. Fett's ability to change the direction of his bank was largely nullified since he was moving before the Falcon. Against enemies with lower skill levels, it would be much more useful. Slave I was destroyed after only doing 1 shield damage to the Falcon, but I really wouldn't consider this a fair example, even though the points were equal at 59.
Our second game was four TIE Interceptors against four A-wings. This was a much better game, and much closer. He played the A-wings (Tycho Celchu and three Green Squadron pilots, all with concussion missiles) and I had Soontir Fel and three Saber Squadron pilots, two with Veteran Insticts and one with Marksmanship.
We charged right in and started blasting away. By the end, I had destroyed Tycho and two of the Green Squadron pilots, and had lost two of the Interceptors. I finally chased him off the edge of the map (he decided he was getting tired and it was getting late). We were there for about three hours, and had a great time. My son is really enjoying the game. So am I.
