Falcon.

By mrgoodtrips, in X-Wing

Got my falcon the other day along with a lot of other people, nice model, plays well, but did anyone notice the lack of target lock tokens yet you get an upgrade card that allows you to have two? The same with the shield upgrade card, but no xtra shield tokens? you get an extra ion token though wich is good. suppose if you playin 100pts torny games you could borrow other tokens, but if like me you also like to field loads of ships you really will miss the missing tokens.

If you don't already have about 4 times the number of target lock sets you need, you are doing X-wing wrong.

Had trouble getting hold of x wings because everywhere in england had practically sold out, between me and my friends we have a number of core sets and expansions but tend to play large scenario driven games. but between us not one of us has managed to get hold of an x wing so no wedge or garven for us we only been playin since christmas. just thought that fantasy flight could have put in a target lock token as all other rebel expansions come with them, bu not complaining as you do get 16 upgrade cards and a fab model. :)

My LGS told me that they were informed of wave 3 not being as many ships and including plastic upgrade parts like the ones that come in the gamenight kit. It will be easy to get those parts.

I'm actually surprised they are providing as many components as they are. At this point, you have to have a core set to play so I'd almost expect less and less of the standard tokens. It'd be nice if that was the case moving forward and it opened up more space for unique scenario tokens.

Each expansion comes with the tokens it needs. If the ship can perform an evade, it will have that token. If it can target lock, it will have a couple of those. After a few expansions you get more than you need, but not at first. As they can't predict which expansion a player could choose first, it's a good way to do it.

Except the case in point as addressed by the OP. The Falcon doesn't come with target lock tokens. It also only has 5 even though it comes with an upgrade that allows for more. The point is, not everything is needed. You can't just buy a Falcon and a couple of A-wings off the shelf and play a game. The core set supplies a lot of the components already so it gets to be redundant after a while.

The core box is absolutely needed to play the game. You cannot pick up expansions for a game you don't have and expect to be able to play the game. While I will agree they are a little tight with the shield tokens, you should have enough components if you own one of each ship.

Since they are clear the base game is needed to play (and there is really no way to play the game as intended without the base since you wouldn't have range rulers, damage deck, and movement templets), I'm ok with the Falcon not having a target lock since there are so many extra in the core set.

But, it would have been nice to have the sield tokens since there are no extra in the core set, since they give you the extra Ion token, and this could be a problem for those with few ships.

I really don't think they need to keep providing numbers (or target locks) at this point. Even if you just have the core set, you really have pleanty of those.

I'd rather have extra focus and evade and maybe some other tokens that are more commonly used/lost.

Well said.

I love the game, but so far my chief complaint is that FFG does not supply extras of the core tokens and no means to purchase them or replacement parts (particularly pegs) if some go missing or are broke. Up to this pont each expansion as come with waht you need to play with that ship (exactly what you need), so it makes no sense not to include the extra shield tokens with the Falcon.

For those that do not have extra ships that include shileds proxies can be used, but it is just not the same.

About the shield tokens, just flip over the ship mod card.

yes have been using the ship mod card as shield token, wohhooo just found spare target lock tokens in my core set, could have done with those earlier,
