Just got my wave 2 ships last night (yay!) and my store owner mentioned an interesting tidbit. He said they were selling quick (the dozen mill falcs and starters each he put on the shelves the afternoon before were down to one starter and no falc by the end of last night when I left) and that he tried to place a reorder yesterday to no avail. When he called FFG and multiple distributors, they were out and couldn't ship him anything more. I don't know if FFG got another small shipment from China or if they're staggering the release of the supplies or if they simply underestimated or if they sent most of the lot to big box stores like Target and Barnes and Nobles (who both carry it here in the US)… Assuming some other players chime in after asking their stores about this, it might be a good idea to buy Wave 2 items sooner rather than later if this is confirmed to be true elsewhere as well.

Yeah, Target carries the starter and Barnes does the starter and boosters (at least with wave 1.. haven't been there this week). I just figured I'd give some local alternatives to look at right off the bat if the FLGS do sell out and can't reorder. Even when people were mentioning not being able to pick up either core or boosters, they were sitting unsold at the big box stores in my area.

My FLGS was sold out within a few hours of receiving our shipment Friday. I wanted to get a third A-wing when I picked up my preorder after work, but they were gone. I did manage to get a third squint, but it was the last one. I'm not too surprised to hear they are selling out at the distributors.

I think that FFG never had a big license like Star Wars, I know that they have Lord of the Rings, but the fans are not the same, and we overpas the production, because they do a great game, and we never have a good game of ships, so it cause a lot of expectation, I think with the time they could adjust the production to the great demand of their game, I really hope that this game have a long live, greettings.

I know for sure I got the last Falcon at my LGS yesterday. I need to go back for more Interceptors…

Yeah, I kind of figured that they'd sell out at the store level and need a reorder but I'm a bit surprised at them selling out at FFG if its true. When you guys swing by the game store the next time, ask them if they've had trouble reordering (assuming that they've attempted to) to see if we can confirm the sell out at the manufacturer level.

Miniature Market and Cool Stuff Inc have pleanty in stock (in some cases over 100) at steep discounts with not tax and free shipping if you order over $100.

I think part of the problem is that (at least some) LGS can only take so much risk and preorder so much stuff. Seems for both wave 1 and wave 2 many places erred on the side of caution and ended up gettig less then they could have sold.

Same goes for players, sounds like some people didn't preorder (enough).

I know LGS and individual budgets also influence these decisions.

So, I think many people at many levels are underestimating the demand for the game (not just FFG).

EDIT: And, you can order the big ships on Amazon for about $1 less tha retail with free S/H. So there seem to be pleanty of places to buy them. I agree it is too bad LGS's are losing out on business, though.

My FLGS didn't receive any Core Sets that were on pre-order with one distributor. Including a stack I had on pre-order to bulk up the X-Wing and TIE squadrons >.<

Hopefully they can scrounge up some from other distributors. Not having them on the store shelf is definitely slowing down my efforts to build up a regular monthly game day. Hope we can build a solid following before the Regional Tournament we're hosting in June!

Well, when I heard that they were released, I rushed to my local store and now own a Slave1 and a Falcon, also bought a second starterbox. And when I looked at the X-wing model, I realised that it had undergone a few changes! Yes, they have added more detail to it and the quality of the painting and assembly are far more better than the previous ones. This is ofcourse great news, but also, I now need to change my "old" X-wing models for these new ones, since they look so much better!!
Also compared the Tie Fighters that came with the box with the ones I already had, and the only difference was that they had applied a heavier black wash on to them. That's easily fixed with a black wash of my own to the ones I have to match these newer ones. Haven't had the chanse to compare the new Y-wings or Tie Advanced with the old ones, but hopefully no bigger changes there.

Anyone else noticed these changes?

I had my doubts about this when I first saw this thread. All my regular sources are now out. I initally ordered only 2 A-Wing/interceptors with the plan to by up to two more locally. Fortuately I did grab the extra two at the LGS before they sold out. While good for me this news is both good and bad for the game. The good thing is that interest is obviously higher than anticipated. The bad is if they are not able to quickly react and restock it could turn players off as well as limit new player involvement.

Wave2 hit the shelve less than a week ago and the small ships are sold out at most major online game retailers as well as many LGS. I know I would be rather upset if I had been waiting and in less than a week missed the opportunity to uy because I did not realize thay had hit the shelves yet.

Let's hope they are able to restock soon.

Does look like MM and CSI are out of the smaller ships; curious for how long. But, Amazon.com still has them at regular retail and free S/H if you purchase $25 or more (which is two ships). The big ships are now $4-6 off retail with he shame S/H deal. I really hope they are not already out, especially for LGS's and player's sake.

I'm sure it's too much to hope, but I always felt the window on the TIE Advanced was just too big, and would love to see it fixed. Of course you're talking new paint jobs, not sculpts. But if things are being tweaked…
