Playing Remotely? Try Hangout EotE tools

By Spew, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

The app adds both a Trimph symbol and a Success symbol to the result, what you see is the final result already taking that into consideration. Same for the FFG mobile app.

Great to know! Thanks for the info!

Tried the app, looks pretty smooth, just have one question: what portion of the app requires full control over the audio and video feeds? :) Are there sound effects or something?

I've got to say that the tools are a big help to the group I'm playing online with. Thank you for making it. :)

Could I suggest an addition to the roller? Adding in the ability to track individual Light and Dark Side points that have been generated in the roller for a running tally of the character doing the rolling.

Hmm... Does it say it needs control over audio and video feeds? I'll have to look into that, because I don't think it should need them for anything. Thanks!

You're welcome!

I'm curious: What would you use the running tallies for?

likely to tally conflict from dark side pips.

Pretty much this. To make it easier to tally up Conflict at the end of the session.

A great tool. Thanks

Is anyone else having issues using this with the new version of hangouts? It doesn't show up for me until I revert to the old version of hangouts. Even then, for one member of our group he can't get it to show up on the old hangouts and he can't find it on the "add an app" button.

The new Hangouts is not intended to work with 3rd party apps at all. Roll20 is bugged out, EotE Tools is bugged out, etc. This is a "feature" not a bug. I always have to revert, and I always respond to the questionnaire and register my preference for the older, "open source" version.

Ironically, one of the people in the Hangouts game I play in works for Google and has been encouraging us to do the same.

I always launch Hangouts from an event, which still uses the old version, so I hadn't even tried it in the new version. But as others have said, it appears that apps in general aren't supported in the new version.

As far as the person who can't get it in the old hangouts either, try having him launch Hangouts directly from the button at this link: https://cjhooker.github.io/eote-dice-roller-release/hangout-button.html Hopefully that will get the app into Hangouts for him, and he'll see it from then on.

The character only gets conflict from dark side pips that they choose to use, though, so it doesn't seem like the total number rolled would be that helpful. Or am I missing something?

Well for those groups that use the Force Balance rules I wrote, we take a tally of all Light and Dark side pips then subtract the lowest from the highest to see where we're at on the Light/Dark Side scale.

It looks like every Hangouts app requires that permission; it's not something I can change. Here's the clearest explanation I've found: https://plus.google.com/+MoritzTolxdorff/posts/15UhyUKNyYb

Hi everyone, I'm new here and am interested in playing Edge of Empire but don't have anyone local ☹️. I would be interested in joining a Google hangout game
