Something for the weekend Sir?

By Englishpete, in X-Wing

Now I have my Wave 2 ships I am going to try this out.

Soontir Fell, Push the Limit

Turr Phennir, Push the Limit

Alpha Squadron Pilot, Stealth

Alpha Squadron Pilot, Stealth

100pts

It's fast and manuverable and has some firepower. It's also not easy to hit.

I'll see how it goes.

Any thoughts?

Sounds okay to me. Personally, I'm planning this for my first Interceptor list:

  • Turr Phennir (25) + Push the Limit (3) + Stealth Device (3)
  • Fel's Wrath (23) + Stealth Device (3)
  • Alpha Squadron Pilot (18) + Stealth Device (3)
  • Alpha Squadron Pilot (18) + Stealth Device (3)

I'm fantasizing about X-wings with Engine Upgrade (a.k.a. Boost). Talk about maneuverable.

I've thought of similar lists. Missile shooting A-wings worry me.

I kind of think they should worry everyone. But I think an Interceptor+Stealth list is one of the better counters to that particular brand of alpha strike: it'll take 2-3 missiles of any kind to kill a ship with 4 Agility and Focus, so you're unlikely to lose more than one Interceptor to missiles, and after that the A-wings don't have enough offense to realistically threaten 3 ships with 4 Agility.

I'm actually more worried about Falcon lists vs. Interceptors, but we already have a thread for that. reir

you over estimate your defense dice, odds are you are going to get slammed with a missle, or multiple homing missles in that case with a list running 2 or more A wings

remember that your odds are 1-2 dodges on average with 3 defense dice (1 is the likely candidate) and with 4 defense dice, you're still only going to average 1-2 dodges which is why stealth device is not worth it in my opinion on anyone but dark curse

where as an average homing missle is going to hit you for 3 hits with the target lock and highly likely to hit 4 hits…and believe me i've been playing a lot of games with A-wings and homing missels.. i get a lot of 4 hit missle shots

@Vorpal Sword: Don't forget, the A-wings only have to land one hit and your Stealth Device is nullified. This means their alpha strike could knock out all of your devices in the first round of combat!

So with that in mind, I'm curious if you would choose the Evade action or Focus action if you were up against a missile-toting squad?

Against Homing Missiles, you choose Focus.

Being a Falcon flyer as my ship of choice. Squints don't worry me. I average one a turn. Also once you put a crit on them, the struggle big time.

If my opponent spends his or her 4-point missiles to knock out my 3-point Stealth Devices, that's a trade I'm happy to make.

@executor: You overestimate the effectiveness of missiles. With 4 Agility and Focus, a Homing Missile with Focus has a 50/50 hit rate. Focused Concussion Missiles are a bit more effective, but still unlikely to lead to a one-hit kill; in either case, you're likely to spend at least two missiles per kill--and if you miss with the first, you still need two more.

So… 2-3 missiles per Interceptor kill.

the "splash" damage from Assault Missiles in not the same as being hit by an Attack. It is just damage, like running over a bomb or Asteroid. Only the ship that was hit would lose Stealth Device.

Don't forget the reroll with your target lock for homing missiles, when combined with focus, they're pretty deadly.

Yes I think it will be my favorite missiles, until Wave 1 are Cluster missilers with Dasrth Vader, but I think it will be change, greettings.
