Burnsville, MN - Second Death Star Battle

By Air Traffic, in X-Wing Organized Play

Hello All,

Wave 2 is almost here and that means we are past the first Death Star and on to the bigger second Death Star. On March 16th we (Air Traffic) are hosting a second Death Star Battle at our Burnvsille Center location. It's a whole day full of events, but the Death Star Battle is what you all will be most interested in. The Battle will start at 4:30 and go until either the Rebels succeed in blowing up the battle station or the Imperials wipe them out.

Bring what you want for ships, we will also have enough for up to 6 people to play with our own ships (all from wave 1). Wave 2 will be allowed, and gift cards will go out to the ace pilots for each faction. If you have any questions feel free to field them here, or at our Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/210710035739777/ or call 952-941-3335 and ask for James.

We are in the last stages of ironing out the rules and will post them here once they are finished.

We hope to see you there, and we swear it's not a trap…

Dark Star is going on that day. A lot of the X-Wing players are also 40k players, so it may be a light turn out. I think you should repeat the X-Wing scenario a different weekend as well.

Thanks for the heads up. We will for sure be repeating the event, it just worked out really well for us this day. If you can't make it for Dark Star, good luck and hopefully we will see you at a later event.

Bought my first core set and expansion ships here… Thanks for supporting this game! Unfortunately I'm attending Dark Star as well… Hopefully you repeat this event soon as I'm very interested in playing!

X-Wing Second Death Star Battle Rules

This battle will re-enact the battle of the second Death Star. The playing field will consist of two tunnels leading into the reactor core. Rebel players will be able to spawn at the end of either tunnel and Imperial players will spawn in hanger bays in the inside of the reactor core.

The goal is different for each faction. Imperials must destroy all of the Rebel ships, while the Rebels must destroy the reactor core. The health of the reactor core and supply of Rebel ships will depend on how many players attend the event. See Appendix 1. The reactor core treats all critical hits as regular hits.

When ships are destroyed they will spawn at their faction’s spawn point at the beginning of the next activation phase just like they were deployed at the beginning of the game. Spawn points are special areas in the reactor core and ends of tunnels that ONLY ships of that faction are allowed in. If a ship of the opposing faction tries to enter a spawn point they must roll a damage dice, suffer the result and immediately do a koiogran turn with the rear of their base touching the back of the spawn point, receiving stress. If they cannot be placed in this manner they are destroyed. Ships can shoot into, and out of the spawn points as normal.

Any ship that touches the side of the tunnel, the reactor core walls or core itself is destroyed. If a ship of either faction hits the core roll a single damage dice, the core suffers the result.

All released ships are allowed, no proxies. Players will take ships in 25 point allotments, and the T.O. will keep sides balanced in points. Players cannot share their points with any other players, but can spread points out through their total allotment however they want. Ex. A player that only spends 24 points cannot give his one extra point to any other player. Ex. A player takes 100 points, and decides to run Han Solo in the YT-1300 taking up 46 points, he now has 54 points left to spend on upgrades and other ships however he wants up to a total of 100 points.

Three sets of movement templates and dice will be provided.

Air Traffic will be able to provide up to 6 people enough ships for a 25-point allotment in the event, if less than 6 people show up without ships than they can take more points from remaining Air Traffic Ships.

Prizes will be awarded to the Ace Pilot from both factions. With various other pilots taking home a large Han/Boba pilot card.
