Brand new to the game

Very intrigued by this game and seems like a lot of fun. What do you recommend as far as purchases go to have a good collection of ships to build the best or at least a competetive fleet?

My first thought was to buy 2 of everything (core set and expansions) and was wondering if this was the way to go?

I'm new as well. I have 3 TIEs, 2 X-wings and a Y-wing so far. What I would suggest is 2 Core sets, 2 X-wing expansions, 2 Y-wing Expansions and 2 Interceptor Expansions when they release them.

2 Core sets, adds up to 2 X-wings, 4 TIES.

2 X-wing expansions adds up to 2 more X-wings.

2 Y-wing Expansions add up to 2 Y-wings

2 TIE Interceptor Expansions add up to 2 Interceptores for a grand total of:

4 X-wings

2 Y-wings

4 TIE Fighters

2 TIE Interceptors

Or if you want, you can get A-wings instead of Y-wings to counter the speed of the enemy Interceptors. Otherwise, the Interceptors will make short work of poor Mr. Vander and Mr. Salm.

this is pretty much what i ahve plu 2 tie-advanced + falcon + slave1.

im going to buy a second falcon and slave1 this week as im liking some of the 2-large ship squads im seeing and want to test them myself. always good to have a few extra copies of upgrades like gunner as well :)
