Tired of reading and not understanding right. Couple of noob questions. Sorry…I dont understand right

By LedZep, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello! Sorry for asking about the same rules…but Wherever I look here or on the boardgamegeek forums I get different answers.

Questions:

-Ion cannon range:

1) Why does it says range 1-2? Then people ask about if the deffender gets a defense roll on range 3…

So the weapon can be used on range 1-2 outside firing (360) arc and 3 inside your arc?

2) Confirmation on this:

Y wing shoots at Vader. Gets 2 hits and vader gets 1 evade and one blank. Vader takes damage but since it has 2 shields, one of them absorbs damage. Ion token still takes effect and his next move will be 1 foraward.

3) Overlaping:

Example and question: I move my ship foraward and I pass trough another ship, mine or enemies… (I end up far from but on the way I passed trough it)

Does something happens?

4) Two ships fly for the kill. One in front of the other. One ship chooses 2 foraward and ends up going backwards because its gonna end on top of the other. That ship looses action and cant shoot that ship. The enemy chooses 1 foraward and the same thing happens with the action and attack.

a)What happens on next movement turn?

b) I try to do a 180 but my ship ends on top of the other. I move backwards and dont do the 180 and I get a stress token right?

5) Asteroid:

I move my ship and make a bank 2. The ship ends on top of asteroid. I then throw 1 attack and deal damage if any.

a) If im on top of the asteroid and an enemie shoots at me…do I get +1 extra defense die because of the asteroid?

b)When I move on my next turn…do I get to roll another attack die and take damage because im passing trough the asteroid to get out?

Thanks in advance.

1. Ion turret is range 1-2 even if enemy is in your arc and range bonuses dont apply to secondary weapons It is in the rules reference page 16 under the Range combat bonus heading.

2. yes shields do not block ion tokens

3. with another ships nothing happens as long as you dont end your move on them. but mines detonate and you hit obsitcals if the template gose through it. But if you are not landed on an asteriod you can still attack (see page 14 for obsicals and page 15 for overlapping ships of the rules reference).

4. you can shoot a ship if you hit it as long as you are not touching it at the combat phase. In your example the ships would not be able to shoot at each other but can shoot at other valid targets see page 15 of the rules reference.

b) yes

5 . a) only if if the closest to closest line of fire gose through the asteriode. for example if you are on the asteriode but the closest part of your base to the enemy is not on it then you dont get the die.

b) only if your movement template overlaps the asteriod.

Hmmm... necro-thread much?

Hmmm... necro-thread much?

By almost 3 and a half years. That has got to be some kind of record.

What's worse, it is probably a double post to start out with which is why it doesn't appear to have been answered back when originally posted.

I was wondering about that. There's a few that have popped up today.

Patrik is on fire, guys...

you have got to be intentionally finding old threads to necro this bad lol. Few pages i can understand but theres no way a 3year old post is a few pages behind lol

Patrik is on fire, guys...

He's super good actually. My guess is that he's filtering by threads with 0 responses since this one initially had none. Best to just ignore

yeah i was looking for unawnserd questions to awnser but I forgot to look at the date. 3 years old how did i miss that

If it hits the rules forum and is an actual question it WILL get answers within the first day or two at the most UNLESS it is a double post and even then there are no guarantees even one will escape comment.

Occasionally there is an old rules question that is just as relevant now as it was when first asked but even bringing those forward can be dangerous ESPECIALLY if the answer has changed, sometimes repeatedly, since the question was first asked and answered.

But here it is again, back on the first page. :D
