On one of the most remote worlds in the Exapanse is a strange world in a galaxy of strange worlds. Its oceans are of a pink-orange liquid filled with organic compounds and genetic material. What landmasses there are seem to be large chitinous growths and organic outcroppings. The world itself is very poor in metals but it is very mineral rich within that liquid. Those landmasses drift upon the currents and the surface is always changing. Relatively little plant growth visible on the surface though the atmosphere is also oxygen rich. Most of the life on the planet exists beneath the waves and the purpose of the land masses came from the first settlers during the Golden Age of Technology when they came down their desire for a surface to land on prompted the symboitic nature of the planet to react.
With the liquid organic and genetic compounds began to fuse together producing enough land to support the craft for them. When they needed food the liquid provided. When they needed shelter that landmass reacted. The native life forms existed in a large connected web beneath the waves that was always changing and growing. When the colonists feared about predators they emerged from the waves and storms brewed. When they needed calm the surface would still and they would be provided. It affected their technology as well. Fear that it wouldn't work caused it to fail. Eventually the colony ship stopped sending shuttles down to the surface as they wouldn't come back up. Left to their fate the colony ship continued on its way.
Things were not as bad as it could have been for the colonists left behind. That liquid provided for them and as they controlled their emotions the seas calmed. And over time they migrated beneath the waves leaving those empty landmasses behind. With no fear holding them down the systems rebooted and following their programming returned to orbit. With the colony ship long gone they began their long journey to catch up. By then the colonists did not even notice they were gone.
In there cities beneath the waves it grew to their whims. To protect them from predators the organic and genetic materials fused to create armor that would allow them to stand against the super predators that would reguarly spawn from the depths. As the cycle grew and the life forms adapted ever greater predators would breed until there was not enough to sustain them and they would die out and their genetic legacy would continue on. In the gap smaller creatures and then predators would develop again in constant cycles of life and death, predator and prey. Over time more and more of those suits and genetic markers from constant contact and exposure are permanently developing within the human genetic structure. It allows a small caste of humans more percise control over the evolution of their tools. Still very new to them much of their society dislike disturbing the natural balance like their ancestors did so ignorantly from before the Time of Understanding. Time spent within the liquid and its ability to store genetic information allows them to access their genetic memories from all those back through their line. It ocassionally allows for the rebirth of old personalities within new bodies. When the Explorers arrive they encounter the same issues that the first humans on the planet did so long ago causing extreme reactions from the planet.

So I want to work on a table of some kind based off of it they pass or fail a wilpower roll. Success will bring a positive response from the liquid like "Hungry" and food begins to grow as it rapidly produces fruit/nut bearing plants. Were as failure brings a result like "Where are the horrors?" and it creates some kind of animal to attack.
Also thinking about how such a world could be used to benefit the Rogue Trader/Imperium.
