Rashotep: Ideal control character?

By DEFlores, in UFS General Discussion

Didn't Start Over K' get Top 4 at one of the UK Nats? Seems to me he made a bit of a splash.

I agree with Sol, Chubbs didn't play along with the whole entire remainder of the meta :P

he's okay. I got a copy of him sitting in my binder right now. Obviously his strongest point is his symbols, but I think his ability is pretty neat.

6 handsizers(and Below) have had a rough time of it but some have done well.

Not Draw Oriented 5/6 handers

Cervantes(Worlds 2008 top 4)

Little dude named ROCK, seems to be totally overlooked. 2nd place worlds 2007.

Both Yun Seongs(one of them infact didnt use draw tech)

Rose(Team Nationals 2007 deck)

Elena(Worlds 2008 top16(Chubbs, lost to Goo) and Team Success on a few teams)

K'(Worlds 2007, and I think UK top cuts)

Honorable Mention on potential without too much success Donovan, Juni, Morrigan, Mai and Victor.

Drawish or Otherwise 5/6 Handers

Alex(obvious)

Voldo(Obvious)

JT(so obvious he was banned)

Sakura(not quite draw, but card accel nonetheless)

Dan(DrawDrawDraw)

Hugo(tutor/draw mania)

SeongMina(Tricksy Tricks)

Ryu , Cardpool pickup version and deck recycle version (Worlds 2007 and worlds 2008 top cuts)

Is the list for 7/8 handsizers 19 times as long? Yes

Is being a higher handsizer a HUGE edge? Obviously yes

Can 6 handsizers work with the right support and builds? I think so

6 handsizers just need EXCEPTIONAL abilities to work, and a symbol that can back up said abilities(or a gimmick). 7 Handsizers tend to have abilities just as potent and can more easily support whatever it is that ability does.

But I still agree. A six hand character can still be stupidly excellent.

I must respectfully disagree with that. He was the only character diversified from top 16 at Worlds 2008, as piloted by Mr. Ryan Riley (9th place at the end of Swiss, I believe, but diversified by Drew who placed...7th, I think...with Donovan3).

But I still agree. A six hand character can still be stupidly excellent.

Actually that was sketch aka dave . But ya donovan 6 hs version was awesome ryan was number in swiss with him at SCC 2008 as well.

And yet it's usually the opposite : 7HS have outstanding abilities and 6HS are complete crap.

More often than not 7 HS characters have 2 awesome abilities, and its the 6 and 5 HSers that get one.

I' m hoping that changes. Although Hugo's a step in the right direction. And he's relevant to this topic because he has Death and grapples.

all too true.

back on topic: i think rashotep is quite playable and with the right build could probably top 8 somewhere. i realy wish he had 30 health. i think almost all 6 handers need 30 health unless they are ridicoulusly overpowered.

im actually inclined to think that 6/30 should be a bit more sacred then it has been. It has been tossed around quite liberally in the last few sets, and 6/30 is quite a playable set of numbers with the right ability set but in a few cases like JT was just wayyyy high. The 6/28 on Alex is a example of a char who would of made a lot more sense a little bit further down the curve.

but think of all the characters like night terror, starter sagat, r. mika, and now rashotep who would have benefitted from 30 health. even though chars like starter sakura, promo alex, end of turn draw terry, promo yun seong, etc. should have less vitality, i believe all six handsize chars that are not overpowering, or only have one ability (unlese it is unbelievable) should have 29 or 30 health.
