So I bought all the expansions and preordered the second wave, now what?

So as the title says I purchased all the expansions and preordered the second wave, I also own the core game (of course). This leaves me with 3 TIE Fighters, 2 X Wings, 1 Y Wing, 1 TIE Advanced and with the pre orders will add 1 YT-1300, 1 Firespray-31, 1 A Wing, and 1 TIE Interceptor. This poses an interesting dilemma in that it leaves me with 5 Rebel Ships and 6 Imperial Ships once the preorders arrive. As a new player I figured I would ask if I should add another Rebel Ship what should it be and why? Thanks!

I would actually suggest a 2nd core set if you can get it at a good price. Even at msrp it will give you 3 ships and all the extras for less cost. most importantly it will give you more flexibilty to build 100 pt squads with just wave1 as it takes at least 3 x-wings or 5 ties.

HTH,

Another vote for a second Core Set.

Also, of the ships you own, it's actually the Imperial side that is lacking. Two X-Wings and Y-Wing can make 100 points with the right pilots and upgrades, but a TIE Advanced and three TIE Fighters can't (it takes a TIE Advanced and four TIE Fighters or six regular TIE Fighters to reach 100).

Just went through this myself, 2 Core sets is definitly the way to go, gives you the equvalent of 3 expansion sets, plus a dice pack and a whole set of extra templates.

Good points all around the idea of getting another core set with the back up pieces makes sense, also didnt even think of it from the perspective of the imperial side lacking. All awesome points so far. Any other ideas are all certainly appreciated as well, keep em coming. Thanks guys!

Other Ideas ?

Well, get yourself an extra credit card, in just your name, with a different bank. Set it up with a post box address or maybe your work address. Use this card when buying expansion sets so the wife is never the wiser !

And Happy Gaming !

Yeah there's the rub trying to avoid the wifes icy glare when you're over 200 bucks into the game…….well worth it sonreir

You should add another core set for sure. Not only will it let you have a 3rd x-wing and give you the ability to field a strong 3 X + 1 Y squad, but it'll bolster your low TIE fighter count, all for a price that's more competitive than buying expansions separately.

Also, I recommend reminding your S.O. that your $200 is being spent on Star Wars action figures, which are much less likely to lead to chemical addiction and/or STDs than almost any other hobby of similar cost. (c:

Looks like you are missing an x-wing expansion… This comes with new/different cards then the core set so at least get one.

You also didn't mention how many games have you played, are you seriously into the game or just interested in setting up a good game to play to find out if you are serious? That will dictate what pieces to get, I think you are pretty good for now, at least one of each ship to try them all out and see if you like the game. If you do, then go nutz. The cool part is you can get a new ship here and there slowly making cost easier to swallow.

If you are serious… This is my thoughts..

2 core sets that everyone suggests IS nice. The extra dice and ships for cheap(er) is a good deal. I personally think having 4-6 ties and 4 x-wings is a must for flexibility in squads. Though with Wave 2 things could change for you, where only 3 x-wings and less TIEs may be needed.

As I mentioned you still want to buy the Tie and X-wing expansions for the different cards. Another subtlety is you can use multiple of the same card, so having duplicate cards is not a bad thing either (house rules you can copy them obviously but official tourneys require the actual card. Even the unique cards (block dot on them) can use 2, one for each side.

My personal opinion… Get only 1 maybe 2 Tie Advanced expansions. Most cases only one is used, at least in our group. Same sort of goes for the Y-wing, though I would say 2 are used more often then the Tie Adv… If you find you really like a 4 y-wing squad then expand those, though I generally setup 4 x-wing, 3 x 1 y, or 2x 2y squads.

I have a feeling you will want more then 1 a-wing and 1 interceptor eventually but try them out first to find that setup that is flexible enough for you and your friends.

Now you have a good suply for ships, the most obvious question is Do you have any friend to play???, and you need to wait until wave 3 to get more ships, it 's only the begining if a good adventure, look others games of FFG it have a good selection of miniatures, so i hope it will have a long live, greettings.
