Hi, ive just seen the player list and noticed there are quite a few of us dotted around the UK now. As this game has been going over a year now and is pretty much stabilised ( not just a flash in the pan), i was wondering whether anyone else fancied one weekend a year meeting? As we are all over the UK maybe central England is suitable as a location ( Nottingham, Brum etc). There are a few in Scotland, Rich is up there in Cumbria, im way down here in Devon and i think the nearest player to me is in Bristol. (2 hours away). Looks like we are spread throughout the Kingdom. Its just a thought maybe we could kick around. I know it will be tough all getting the same weekend free but its a starting point. I look forward to any input and ideas as to gameplay etc. If its a pants idea, i would equally like to know. (Prefer not to meet in a pub though, dont want to get legolas before we play.) Cheers guys/gals.
UK meet up??
Hi Ted,
My partner and I would be interested in a meetup one weekend. I would suggest late July or August to give others a chance to respond and then time to organise something….
I think I may be the one player you were referring to as you nearest player in Bristol, so worst case scenario would be we could meet up half way between us? Maybe Taunton if no-one else is interested?
Lee
Yeh that sounds good Lee. Taunton is only 50 minutes up the motorway from me. Ok, lets see what response we get in the next few months with any replies and go from there. Im hoping for a bit of interest as i know there are a lot of solo players like me in the UK. (ive tried introducing my wife and 2 daughters to the LOTR LCG scene with no luck im afraid!). Cheers ted.
Hi Ted
i like the sound of a meet-up sometime. Me and my son would be interested. We're in the SW too (Gloucester), please keep us posted.
We are fairly new to the game but enjoy the struggle to try and beat the encounter deck!
thanks
Ok cheers Migwald, glad you and your son are enjoying this game. I agree, its definately tough most of the time!! I will message you nearer the summer after seeing what list of names we have, then we can discuss further details.
I'd love to have a meet up! Summer sounds good too as by then I will have most if not all expansions (I'm slowly buying them starting from the oldest ones.)
I'm in Manchester so the South isn't exactly close, but I'm happy to take a train if needed.
Also, I truly hate to derail the thread, but does anyone of you know where the hell I can find Hunt for Gollum?
I've been looking absolutely everywhere and it seems impossible to find! I know it's not the greatest AP but I'd still like to have it for collection purposes.
Hi colino, yeh that sounds great. I was saying above that the midlands may be fairer to all of us as we dont want people travelling the length of the country. I will message you nearer the summer and see what list of players we have then we can dicuss arrangements etc. As for Hunt for Gollum AP, its on ebay. Just tap in "Lord of the rings card game" . An alternative is Gamesquest and Boardgamingextras, 2 companies who get in the APs. Cheers ted.

I've been checking ebay for the past 3 weeks but it's never on there. I've found every other pack from the mirkwood cycle except that one. Both sites you mention also don't seem to have it in stock.
I swear I've gone through every games site I can find and it's either sold out or not on the website.
Yeh thats weird, ive just had a look myself on ebay and its not there. Andrew wood is manager at Boardgame extras, he manages to get most games that ive asked for over the last couple years. Give him an email and i expect he can get it in for you.
Thanks for the heads up!
And sorry for de-railing the thread haha.
Hi Ted and others,
i am very new to the game, but enjoying it immensely - i live in Poole in dorset and would be interested in a meet up
regrads, gary
Nice one Gary.
I'm definitely still up for anything once we get around to organising it.
Does anyone of you play on OCGTN?

I watch the Cardboard of the Rings series on OCTGN which is superb in my opinion but i play just with the actual cards. One day i will get around to loading up the OCTGN gameplay onto my laptop. Cheers ted.
Yeah I watch those too! I also like their progression series they've been doing lately, reviewing the older sets is very helpful since I only started playing this year. Just by watching the videos I've built up quite a bit of knowledge on most of the card pool (or at least the good cards).
Let me know if you do setup OCTGN, obviously playing the real deal is miles better (many expansions are missing on OCGTN too) but it's a good alternative at times.
Yeh ok, when i get a decent laptop i will give OCTGN a go and let you know. I also watch the latest pogressive series, excellent. Its given me alot of combos too that i have missed in the past. I suppose we are all learning as the game is still in its infancy. Any luck with buying Hunt For Gollum Colino??
Not yet unfortunately. I have had confirmation that FFG are re-printing, so it's just a matter of being patient I suppose.
In the meanwhile I've got both hobbit expansions (I've just finished playing through the first one and really enjoyed it), along with HoN which I haven't touched yet.
Khazad-dum is probably my favorite set so-far and I've just ordered The Redhorn gate and I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm glad I got the Hobbit sets first because me and my fiance' are both using Dwarf decks and there's some absolutely amazing Dwarf cards in both sets. I love the guys but I seriously hope the HoN packs start giving the other traits some of that goodness. At the moment there's just no comparison to how powerful they are. (When you think about it Leadership Boromir from HoN is a complete joke compared to Dain Ironfoot. I think they should've given him Dain's effect instead of some crappy ally buff).
Yeh its kind of a shame they made the dwarf decks so strong as i like to try different themes - Gondor, rohan, elven etc but when i struggle against a quest i always go back to a strong dwarf deck and pump it. Yep the Hobbit set is a goodun isnt it. The Riddle game is a real bugger but great. Ive stuck to a heavy spirit deck with 2 cost allies, events and attachments to get thru that one. Good luck with your hunt for the Hunt for Gollum mate. Ive been looking since we discussed it and its in hiding it seems.
Count me in - Winchester area and always on OCTGN!
Ok thanks for the interest memetix. Will be in touch in a few months.
