Good Game?

By NoItAll, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

This looks similar to a tgc, but whats the difference? Tgcs are a waste of money, i know that much. However, this looks kinda cool. Iv'e never played any warhammer game before and i like the gothic art as opposed to the anime junk, the fact that this game seems to have a complex setting and even a plot also draws me. Is it a good game? What are its pros and/or cons. Can i havea description from the people who have actually played it?

The main difference between CCG/TCGs and Living Card Games like Invasion is the distribution model. LCGs have no different card rarities, and you know exactly what's in every expansion, the contents are fixed, not random like booster contents. And you don't need to buy more than one of the monthly expansions to get the maximum number of copies per card you are allowed to include in a deck, so you only need to buy one. You know exactly what you'll get, and how much you have to spend, it's WAY cheaper than a CCG.

As for the actual game, it's great - but you didn't really expect a different answer from someone hanging out here, did you? ;) I suggest you check out the Invasion reviews at BoardGameGeek, they are very thorough, and several deal with the differences to Magic and other CCGs too: http://boardgamegeek.com/forum/370588/warhammer-invasion/reviews

Hello,

I am a new player of WH:I. Me and my wife received a wedding gift at a game shop and we wanted a new game. With our lives being busy, we have less time to play and we wanted a shorter game than Bloodbowl or other board games…after some researches, i came up with the idea of this game.

The system is quite solid and fun, and it allows to build some themes, which is what i like. So we have a Goblins deck, a Witch elf deck, etc. The 3 zones allow for more tactical decisions than traditional ccgs.

As for the cost, it wasn't an issue for us, but i might get expensive if a player wants to get into the game at a later stage of its life. A simple look at the Games of Thrones LCG discouraged me immediately: there's way too many cards to get a full collection at a reasonable cost. So over time Warhammer might get into the same kind of situation.

The only issue we've had so far is that games tend to be decided much earlier than the actual end, even if we use casual decks and stick to themes.

I also wish it had a multiplayer option though, as it would help getting more friends around the table.
