In the discussion of the card Visenya's Hill on cardgamedb the issue of whether you can duplicate a character if the third copy of that character has already been moved to the dead pile was brought up. I seemed to remember asking that question here and being told you could, so I went looking for the link only to find one saying you couldn't AND one saying you could, both from ktom. Which one's correct?

(For reference, topic saying you could play the dupe and topic saying you couldn't .)

In the year between those two threads, it was clarified that the dead pile restriction is on playing the unique character, location, etc. However, when you play a dupe, you are considered to be playing a dupe, not a unique character, location, etc.

So Saturnine had it right in the 2011 first thread, and the rest of us caught up to him by 2012.
