OK, so durring the Force struggle after you commit a Character to the force, on that players turn does he/she count just the force icons or does he/she count the force card to with the icons. ie. you commit Obi-Wan Kenobi who has 4 icons, does he have 5 force points to the struggle because of his adding the force card to him? And if you use a character to attack can you attach the force card to the character you just attacked with at the end of the 6 phase? I don't know if you can or not being that since you used him/her for an attacke that card is exahusted. Thank you for your help.

You only count the force icons on the card committed to the force. The grey dots. The force commitment card just shows you who is committed.
An exhausted card cannot be committed to the force.

Actually, that's not true:
Weird but good to know I was doing that wrong.
Yeah, like I said, I could see it being viable if there was an action window between committing and resolving the struggle so you could do something to un-focus the card and pull a surprise. I guess you could call it being pro-active, but I don't see the benefit to this over just waiting until the next turn.

One place you might want to do it is with Luke. Play him and engage something (so he now has 1 focus token) and then commit him to the force. On your opponent's turn, that one focus token goes away and his 3 icons may impact the struggle. Or maybe you have a focused Yoda and an unfocused Leia out. Commit both of them (Leia winning you the force struggle now). Then, use Leia to defend something, she dies, focus tokens clear from Yoda, and you win again at the end of the DS turn. Etc.

There are a few other possibilities, such as committing Red Two at the end of your turn, in anticipation of your opponent dropping a Superlaser Blast on his next turn. So in specific circumstances, yeah, it can be effective.

Something similar to this came up this evening in my first game. It was quite helpful to have Luke GTG.
