Please excuse the space board (still working on an appropriate surface). A few shots of one of our playtests. For the most part the rules worked fine. The AT-AT will soon be on a 40mmx80mm base. With the walker only taking crits as damage it came down to the wire in this one. All TIE fighters went down as did an A-Wing before it was destroyed.

I guess where it needs work is the acurate measurement of turning on the spot. Veers did well with his extra attack die when stationary but those pesky Rebels will circle from behind for shots (need those escorts).

AHAHAHAHAHA!!! I can't get over how hilarious those pictures look. I can just imagine the AT-AT floating aimlessly in space spitting cannon fire in random directions as the crew bounce around in zero-G and the onlooking fighter pilots with incredulous looks on their faces saying, "what the….?"

not to nitpick…but shouldn't the AT-AT be bigger? like 2-3x that size?

Size? Apparently a walker is 22.5m tall, or 83mm at 1/270, this model is 72mm so yes smaller but not nearly 2-3 times too small. Its length is 74mm, Once on a base its hieght shouldn't be an issue. Close enough for a fun game. If they release one well yes I would use that.

Snowspeeders, I think people want to game only Hoth when they include a walker and by all means you can however you will likely replicate the same outcome since speeders were ineffective. It was used in other fictional battles and that was what we were going for here, This one was an air escort mission where TIEs keep the Rebels from downing it.

I have three or four of those AT-ATs myself.

I can see ground units being viable in this game. The Death Star battle and trench run are basically ground battles with the Turbolaser turret towers being the ground units, just ones that don't move. You did a great job of the card and base.

The scale is fine. The x-wings are making aground attack while in flight, so the perspective view would have a smaller AT-AT anyway. I just ordered three AT-AT's also. I doubt we will be doing a Hoth scenario, something more temperate in climate but the same type of objective anyway.

Can you remind me what version of the ATAT toy that is?

TIE Fighters are only 6.4 meters, so it really does seem like the walker should be much bigger. I mean think about it -- a TIE cockpit holds one pilot, while the AT-AT's head has room for at least three people (one of whomw is standing and walking around), and the interior is packed with troops waiting to be deployed. At this scale, you couldn't even fit anyone in the head.

Your diagrams give a hieght of 20m or 74mm @ 1/270, the model is 68mm. So yes smaller but not by much. The TIE advanced looks bigger in the second pic because it is much closer to the camera.

A snowspeeder is 19.6mm @ 1/270 and in ESB when the walker steps on it you can see the footpad (excluding toes) covers 2/3 of the ship. The footpad of this model is 12mm, so close to 2/3 of a scale snowspeeder.

I know scale is a nice to have but when its fiction I think one should concentrate more on playing the game and having fun than a few mm here or there.

I think, as long as stuff isn't grossly out of scale, go for it. This is a tactical game and, as such, things should be close but it's up to an individuals taste. In the pictures the AT-AT's do look small but that's in comparison to X-wings and TIE fighters which are quite large compared to a snowspeeder. I'm assuming your AT-AT's are the Titanium series diecast. Are you also using AT-ST's? What stats?
