How to build versatile army

By Galadhir, in Dust Warfare General Discussion

My goal is to get minis for both axis and allies so you can create interesting lists, want to share my thoughts and discuss which units would be good to have multiples for each faction, so you can create balanced lists.

So far I own every unit in the core rulebook and every hero that came out., except heavy walkers,

Because I had original core set I have 2 additional mediums also I bought 2 boxes of snipers/observers and unit 2 machine guns and bazooka squads.

Now I think it would be nice to have 2nd squad of zombies for axis, and some anti tank power but who should I field? Heavy lasers are in core set and I see little advantage to get another set specialy for allies cause their units in the box sucks. I could add another light walker for laser cannons and balance it by buying tank busters or paratroopers, heavy anti infantry is not a problem as both factions have their representatives.

so tell me:

- what's your view on heavy walkers (I think they are broken but never played them)

-how many unit 2 infantry is enough?

-how many snipers?

-would you get 2nd zombie squad ( they have 2 heroes)

-which anti tank unit for axis?

-would you buy 2nd unit 3 machine guns?

any other suggestions welcome.

Heavies, on all sides, are well balanced and carry as much disadvantage as advantage that they bring.

The Axis heavies are something I look at as second tier units. They are beasts, but the points can be spent on two medium walkers that can make up for the differences.

To this, it is all a matter of play style and personal preference.

Two squads of zombies is not a bad thing and the Axis Hero box is a good investment, especially if you are running zombies. Stefan is a solid unit and Grenadiere X is second only to Markus on the Axis side.

The new Laser-Jagdgrenadiere is a solid choice for anti-tank as are the Battle Grenadiers with the upgrade to the second panzershreck.

Best anti-tank for the Germans? (NOT Axis; I have yet to see a non-german unit. Maybe when the Japanese come out…) Varied. They have no dedicated anti-tank that really stands out, other than the heavy laser grenadiers (with Visible Laser upgrade, these are pretty nasty). Closing in with two units of Zombies on an isolated armor unit might work, but it's pretty sketchy, especially against the new Sov heavy armor. Aside from the laser units, the best way I've seen to deal with armor using the germans is to tag-team said armor with the attentions of panzerfaust armed units, panzer-fist units, and the Luther Mk 2.

It's always worth getting a second zombie squad. What a question!

You can never have enough Battle/Recon Grenadiers or Snipers.

Zombies are cool, and if you get the Hero Pack, you got 2 Zombie heroes. I like the Monkeys (requires Seelowe for Markus, but Ozz is cool too).

Wo-tan, Wo-tan, Wo-tan!

Flak Grens are cheaper than HRG, though you need another RCS.

I prefer Angela w/ snipers. She is also good against infantry.
