Just a few questions (New player)

By Adaym, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi all! Just started playing the game, and I love it! Have a group of us, around 8 of us who just got into the game and we have a few questions. Sorry in advanced if these thigns have been posted before (Im not much of a forum person, it's all sorcery to me lol).

1.) Cards that read No attachments :::: If my opponent has Viserion which has No attachments, am I able to use a Condition card like Motley or Stinking Drunk on it?

2.) If my opponent attaches something to his House Card, can cards that read "remove an attachment from play" remove House Attachments?

3.) If Im playing House Baratheon, am I able to play cards from other houses, as long as they don't say things like "House Lannister Only". (And ofcourse Neutral cards are okay.)

4.) Is there any official ruling on how to handle a situation when both players have the same Initiative? (We've just been doing it by who has the most power during an initiative tie.)

Thanks in advanced guys! Im hoping our group makes it far! :)

1) "No attachments" means you can not put attachments on them. Condition is just a trait of the attachment, so if there's a chainmail background to the card's title, you can't attach it to these characters. Of course, this also goes for any card that becomes an attachment, such as I'm You Writ Small .

2) Yes, if they attach something (I assume you're playing with the Core sets and asking specifically about the Chambers locations) to their house card, regardless of the card's type before it entered play, it is an attachment and, as such, is eligible to be removed by an effect that removes attachments from play.

3) When you play an "out of house" card (any card with a house affiliation that doesn't match your house card), you must pay a gold penalty of 2 extra gold on top of the card's printed gold cost.

4) In the case of a tie for initiative, it is actually the player with the least claimed power that wins initiative. If it's still a tie, you must randomly choose a winner.

Thx alot guys! That was some quick replies! This is great! If I have any further questions, I'll post again! Hope to see some of you in Tourneys when we get good!

Ktom, on the question of attachments, if that dragon is blanked by a card effect already, like Meera Reed, that would also clear the No Attachments. In that case it would only be until the end of phase, but if you could get a Milk of the Poppy on him before the phase was over that would keep him blanked, right? Otherwise, at the end of phase he would discard any attachments on him because he's no longer a valid target.

Nightmares event would also work, anything that can blank during marshalling phase as thats the phase when you can play the Milk but yeh seems fine otherwise.

Thanks, that's what I figured.

Yeah, all of this is true. I just didn't think it was worth getting into a "while the 'No Attachments' text is active and not blanked" discussion in response to a new player's general question thread. I thought I'd give the guy a chance to get to know the basic rules before telling him all the ways you can bend them with different card effects.
