Clear sleeves

By NickRice, in Android: Netrunner Rules Questions

Per the tournament rules, sleeves must be used in Regionals and Worlds. Are clear sleeves allowed or must they be opaque?

Tournament rules don't specify, so clearly clear is fine.

Anyone else remember the good old days when opaque sleeves were banned by DC?

I'm guessing you mean DCI for magic tournaments? Yeah, I remember those days. Never understood the paranoia about that.

What's the reason for making people use sleeves in these higher level tournaments?

While clear sleeves are, apparently, acceptable, opaque sleeves that are seen in most taped matches from these tournaments make it less likely to have marked cards, and would sometimes make it more obvious if the person tried to.

No no, this was before they added the "I". I think they were somehow under the mistaken belief that slipping two cards into a sleeve would mark it or that counterfeiting would be easier with opaque sleeves.

Hahaha. That has WotC written all over it. Yeah, this was almost the only game they actually came up with on their own, so better protect the cash cow from any perceivable danger.
