critical effects

By executor, in X-Wing Rules Questions

hey i had a game with my wife the other night and we had an issue that came up that we need clarified

so we were both playing rebels, and i had initiative, my rookie pilot x-wing fired, got a crit on her rookie pilot x-wing, the crit effect was "on her next attack she wasn't allowed to attack and then flip the card facedown"

i told her it would take effect on the next combat phase because the pilot skill level was the same so that we were techinically shooting simultaneously, but she declares that it would effect her attack this time around because i had inititive and she wants clarification.

so, who was correct?

Your wife is correct. Critical hits affect ships using the simultaneous attacks rule. Rulebook page 16.

Jim

Conversely, if initiative was hers and she had already attacked that round, it would not occur until her next attack phase, which would be the following round.

thanks guys, i'm gonna have to hear about it from her now..lol

When she's "focused" just make sure you "evade" or maybe even "barrel roll--if you have expert handling (which a rookie doesn't) reir
