Conversion Kit - Monster size

By Avdima, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Could someone provide me with size of all the monster figures from Conversion Kit? I don't have the figures from previous edition, but would like to use the Convestion Kit with some placeholders, like figures from second edition.

Some are easy to guess, dragon being size of a six squares, but some are not so obvious.

PS: Conversion Kit was rushed to much, not appying some rules from later second edition's expansions (or rather I think it doesn't). In my opinion, Conversion Kit should never happen (adding elements from previous edition into core set/expansions), or they could split it into few separate Kits (one released at the same time as core set, one after each expansion), with figures or without (for these that have them, print on demand), to make it more up to date (and to make more cash on it in my opinion, more pack would equal more money, as I doubt that, for example four, smaller Kits would have the same price as one large).

PS: They should release pack/packs with figures from first edition.

Totally disagree. The conversion kit is great. It's an option for those who have 1E to still utilize all of the characters and monsters from 1E, instead of them collecting dust. My players have characters they enjoy, and have run them throughout our time in 1E, and can now continue to play them. Not to mention all the monsters which see play in open monster groups. I do not understand the complaint, as the product description *clearly* states what the CK is about. My advice is that if you have nothing from 1E, don't pick it up (though I'm sure you can still find the occasional 1E in one of the online auction houses).

As for updating previous releases, from a business standpoint, would make little sense. FF is a company, and though they make games, their basic goal is to make money, and they do that by releasing new content.

My intention isn't to sound critical, especially with my first post (hi everyone, btw), but to offer perspective.

CK is a no-brainer - with or without the plastic. More monsters and heroes is always a plus.

Yeah, I picked up the CK even though I never owned D1, but I do have Runebound (and Sands) as well as DQ, CK allowed me to get those heros into the mix. Plus I could proxy some of the monsters, well, before grabbing a few sets of the actual monster figures from D1 off Ebay.

You're right, it doesn't. That's mainly because FFG rarely releases one expansion that requires another expansion to be played. (Rarely - there are some exceptions in the longer running game lines.) But also, you'd have to ask yourself where to draw the line if you did intend to include expansion mechanics. I mean, if the CK had included rules form LoW then Crypt Dragons and Demon Lords could have Burning if they wanted. Okay, that's great.

But what if the next expansion introduces something that could be useful for Golems? Or Ferrox? How many 2E expansions should they wait on before pulling the trigger? Also consider that the main purpose of the CK is to lure in old 1E players - it doesn't include any figures so it's obviously geared towards people who already have them. Waiting until half-way through 2E's lifespan to try and appeal to old 1E fans doesn't seem very practical. Those who weren't already sold ont he idea of 2E for the sake of 2E would probably have stopped paying attention a long time ago.

I can certainly understand why you would have mixed feelings about the CK if you're one of those who are new to Descent in 2E and don't have easy access to all the old figs. I for one think it's still worth the money as is, but if you don't then I would suggest you save your money.

You are free to burn your CK, or throw it away, you know.
Why ask for the monster sizes, as you consider that the CK is BS anyway?

Take it easy, didn't said that it was BS, but that it was too early released. It's only a board game, nothing to be defensive about.

I wrote, that I would like to use the CK, I wouldn't ask I was not going to purchase it (and no, not to burn it, nor to throw it away). My players really liked the large selection of heroes, especially the favorites from other games in the world of Terrinoth. I like these monsters, but there is lack of differences in some of them, making them too similar for my taste.

I bothered to write about my point of view about the process of releasing the CK (I am especially fond of the Print of Demand idea), I don't think some of you bothered to read it all before answering. I understand that they may not want to sell figures from first edition, but cutting yourself away from including rules from expansions was in my opinion just stupid and rushed to sell as many copies as soon after the release of 2ed, while the "hype" lasted. Maybe good marketing, but I don't care about good marketing, especially when it "damages" the game itself (yes, I see it as a flaw, when all old monsters include only core version's rules with few, minor additions).

Figures? I don't care about figures that much, just would like to have them if it was possible. It would be outstanding to see them re-released by FFG.
