New Dark Heresy Designer Diary

By FFG Ross Watson, in Dark Heresy

Hi Dark Heresy fans!

I just posted up a new Designer Diary , an overview of Tattered Fates , the first book in the Haarlock's Legacy Trilogy. One of the questions I ask at the end is what you, the fans, would like to see as a preview of the book.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Thats sure is one cool guy on the cover...

Well, i tried to leave a comment but it wouldnt let me..

Might just be my computer though. I probaly need to appease its Spirit by dropping less coffee on the keyboard..

Anywho, comments..

Great to see lots of Non-GW art work that actually gives the setting some great flavour.

It sadly doesnt say a lot about the product , theres no hint at "career ranks" at which the product is aimed at, ie 1st through 3rd ranks or 3rd through 6th and so on. Which can i guess be a bit misleading, but given a generic group of: "shooter, thinker, sneaker & psyker" we could guage some leve of difficulty for the product.

As for what i'd like to see in a Preview..

  1. Chapter headers with a brief on what they contain, be it a sentance or two or a full paragraph of what to expect in the chapter.
  2. How the developers went about designing the product, where They drew the ispiration from as it might help those intending to run the missions get the mood right & feel for the game sessions.
  3. The first chapter, or part there of, to actually make me want to buy the book from online so i dont have to wait for my FLGS to get the book in and reserve one for me with out it being damaged or what have you by other people flicking through it. I'm a stickler for New books, and when the FLGS shrink wraps them it makes me want to just walk away with out purchasing the item, after all how am i supposed to know if its the right product for me. Entice me by giving me a downloadable preview of it.
  4. Whether the product contains things useful for the Players in the way of new gear, alternate ranks, new home planets and so on.

It appears that when you click on the link above it logs you out, so you can't make a comment. I had to relog back in and everything worked smoothly.

Looks great Ross.

What I would like to know (and like to see in the product) is better explanation of a scenario's challenge rating and how to modify it up or down to fit your crew.

Page count? Cost? Release date? Non adventure related material contained within, meaning what is in the book that you can tell us that wouldnt ruin the events of the adventure?

I have yet to see a bad product from this company, at least as far as Dark Heresy goes anyway. Everything has been high quality, from artwork to back story to book layout. keep up the good work guys!
