Getting More Dice

Is there a way to get more dice, other than buying another copy of the game?

I noticed that the set that came with the game hasonly one Challenge dice. But when making opposed rolls, I found a couple of cases where the player needed to roll two.

Yes, I know she could roll the single Challenge die twice (which is what she did) but it would be nice to have enough dice to handle any of these situations.

Buy a sheet or three of sticker paper, some inexpensive 16mm d6's, and some d8's and d12's, and an exacto knife (if you don't already have one), and a small metal ruler (again, if you don't have one). Then, grab the PDF of the sticker sheet from http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/StarWarsRPG/edge-of-the-empire/beta/support/SWR01_Dice%20Stickers%20(high-res).pdf

Print out a sicker sheet (or 2 or 3), usign the ruler, cut each sticker, and apply it to the dice.

It's time consuming, but it's pretty.

Otherwise, just count the sides on the sticker sheet and build a substitution table.

FFG should really have dice packs on the shelves by now. With the Beginner game out, folks are actually in full force playing this game. It would be nice to have extra sets. Even at $10 each for the set in Beginner, I would probably buy a couple more.

Pretty sure that when the final version of the full rulebook is printed, they'll cough up separate dice packs as well (a la X-Wing). Until then, those two options or using the sticker sheet that came with the Beta book are pretty much your only shots.

If you have the beta book there is a chart that you can use regular dice with. the chart tells you what would be in each number implacement on the coresponding die.

I actually like that dice chart for regular dice I know its not as fast as using the actual custom dice but it can really help especially if there's a person or group of people that don't like using the custom dice and would rather use their own

I agree. They should be out by now. I can imagine they thought the app would suffice, but it doesn't.

Well, FFG has announced that dice packs will be hitting shelves at the same time the Edge of the Empire core rulebook does.

Price point is $15 ($14.95 if you want to be exact), and has the same array of dice as the Beginner Box.

So if the FFG dice roller isn't an option and you don't care for using the sticker method any longer than you need to, then you'll need to wait until 2nd Quarter/Spring 2013 to buy dice outside of the Beginner Box.

Just puttin' it out there…

I'd totally buy an extra set of dice or two if they released them before the core rule book.

Well you could always buy blank dice from Chessex and do the sticker method or paint it and put a layer of protection coating on it. Though I am not sure how long that would last.

I had the same problem. The solution i found was easy, i found a whole game on amazon for 20 bucks. I know its crazy having to buy another set just to get dice but think about it, if you can find one for a slick 20 like i did it worth it considering the dice pack alone is set to be 15 bucks. think of it as getting another dice pack that also comes with extra tokens and books .

I was wondering the same thing. Although, for those who have a "smart" device . . . who doesn't nowadays, FFG has a dice app available through the App Store (for iPods, iPads, and iPhones), and Google Play has it available for android devices -- price is, I believe, $4.99. Good thing is it does include the dice of the X-Wing Miniatures Game, and it is tournament legal. Downside to the virtual dice is, there is nothing like rolling dice in a role-playing game.

It's worth noting that, having run several campaigns, I prefer 2 sets per player. And the physical dice are not significantly slower than the dice app.
