Cthulhu Mythos Card - Environment Effect & Rumour

By FatPob, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

There seem to be several Mythos Cards that have different enviromental effects, such as weather, mystic, urban etc. Do you replace the environment effect when a new one is drawn regardless of which type it is, or does it only replace one of the same kind.

Example, Environment Weather. If you draw for example an Enviroment Mystic, would this be in play at the same time as the weather one, or replace it.

That being the case if the environment has a task that has to be done, and it is replaced, have you escpaed the task, or do you suffer the failed element of the card

The same question to rumour tasks, if the card is replaced (via drawing another rumour card) do you suffer the failed consequences.

Environments replace each other regardless of type (unless a GOO ability prevent a certain type of Environment in the game, like Ithaqua and Tsathoggua).

Rumors don't. If you draw another Rumor while one is already on-going, do everything but Step 4 from the Mythos phase chart for the new Rumor, then discard it (Rumors don't often drop Clues, so mostly just gate opening and monster moving need be done).

BTW: Why did you put Cthulhu in the topic? I see no point to it.

Cthulhu goes in all topics.

Cos it's all about Cthulhu

Seems a bit daft on the enviroment cards that you can only have 1 in effect, but ok, we always played that they are only overwritten by the same type..

Suppose the game will be easier happy.gif

Keeping track of one environment is often tough enough. I don't think I could go back to doing three again.

Plus, when things like No One Can Help You Now, or Clothing Drive, or Mirage of Lakes stays out too long, you start to pull out your hair. On the other hand, when Happy Days are Here Again or Planetary Alignment or Nodens's Favor are out too long, you feel like you've been given too much of a cakewalk.

Generally speaking, anyhow.
